No. Skin may look slightly pink for an hour or so, and you can wear make-up straight afterwards.
LED light at specific wavelengths is used to calm inflammation and support skin repair. It is gentle, painless and does not heat the skin. We check for light sensitivity first.
The Illumi facial is £180 per session at Dental & Wellness London, Islington. A course of four to six, around a month apart, gives the most lasting result.
At Dental & Wellness London, Islington, an IPL photofacial is from £180 per session, and most people need 3 to 5 sessions. The patch test is free, and the skin consultation is £65, redeemable in full against treatment.
No. IPL improves pigment, redness and surface texture, but it does not lift loose skin. For laxity along the jaw we would discuss skin tightening options at consultation.
Most people go straight back to work. Skin may look pink for a few hours; brown spots darken over a day or two, then flake away within about a week. Avoid sun exposure and use SPF 50 daily.
There is no national rule that stops you being seen after two years away. NHS practices do not keep permanent registers, so they may treat a returning patient as new. We are a private practice: however long it has been, you book a 30-minute examination (£65) and we start from where things are today.
Yes. We are open 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday (Tuesday from 9am), so appointments before or after work are possible. We do not open at weekends, so booking ahead is the best way to secure an early or late slot.
Phone or WhatsApp us early on a weekday and we will offer the soonest slot we can for a dental problem assessment (£75). We are closed at weekends and do not take walk-ins. Out of hours, NHS 111 can direct you to urgent dental care.
At Dental & Wellness London a dental examination is £65 (30 minutes, including a full risk assessment), hygiene is £85, and a dental problem assessment is £75. Composite bonding is £175 for a simple edge or £350 for complex cases. The Invisalign consultation is free.
Yes. We welcome new patients from Shoreditch, Hoxton, E2 and EC2A. You do not need a referral, and you can book a one-off examination or cosmetic opinion without leaving your current dentist.
Take a Great Northern train one stop from Old Street to Essex Road station, about two minutes’ walk from us at 222 Essex Road, N1 3AP. Door to door it takes around 10 to 15 minutes. On foot it is about 30 minutes via New North Road. Many patients cycle: by bike or e-bike (Lime or Forest) it is about 10 to 15 minutes from Old Street or Shoreditch.
Fixed braces — particularly for complex cases, severe rotations, and major skeletal movement. Modern Invisalign treats a wider range than earlier generations but still has its limits; we assess case-by-case.
A willingness to refer outward. An airway-aware dentist notices breathing and development, plans with them in mind, and sends you to an ENT, sleep clinic, or myofunctional specialist when that is what you need.
Not the skeleton. Adult bones have finished growing, and any clinic implying dental treatment reshapes an adult face is overpromising. What the airway lens still offers an adult is better orthodontic planning.
Often, yes, and earlier is better because a child's face is still growing. An assessment can flag whether expansion, a myofunctional referral, or an ENT review for the nose is warranted.
No. Sleep apnoea is a medical condition that needs medical diagnosis and management, and Dental & Wellness London does not diagnose or treat it. A dental anti-snoring appliance can help some people who snore, working alongside sleep-medicine specialists.
Parts of it are well supported — that breathing and tongue posture influence jaw development in children is mainstream biology. The problem is overreach: claims that dental treatment fixes adult faces or cures sleep disorders go far beyond the evidence.
It may support nasal breathing, which helps sleep quality. But a genuine breathing or sleep problem needs proper assessment, and where it points to a medical sleep condition, that is a referral to sleep-medicine specialists, not a tongue technique.
If you simply want better resting posture and nasal breathing, adopt the habit gently. If your real concern is crowded teeth, jaw development, sleep or breathing, an airway-aware dental assessment will tell you what is actually going on.
The whole tongue, including the back, resting lightly against the roof of the mouth; lips gently closed; teeth lightly touching or just apart; breathing through the nose.
Gentle resting posture is not. Forceful "hard mewing" can apply unwanted pressure to teeth and the jaw joint and is best avoided. Posture should be a relaxed resting position, not a strenuous exercise.
No. Once the facial skeleton has matured, tongue posture will not change its shape. In a growing child, tongue posture and nasal breathing do influence jaw and airway development, but that window has closed in adults.
For function — supporting nasal breathing, oral health and resting comfort — good tongue posture is genuinely worthwhile. For the viral claim of reshaping an adult's jawline or face, no: tongue pressure cannot remodel mature facial bone.
Possibly, but that is a medical question, not a dental one. Mouth breathing, heavy snoring, or unrefreshing sleep are reasons to seek a medical sleep assessment. Dental & Wellness London does not diagnose or treat sleep apnoea.
