Lynton IPL, or the Lynton Nd:YAG laser for darker skin, chosen for your skin type · patch test is free · clinician-led · £45–£295 per session by area.
Laser hair removal at Dental & Wellness London in Islington N1 uses Lynton IPL, or the Lynton Nd:YAG laser for darker skin, chosen for your skin type following a patch test. Most patients see 80-90% long-term reduction after 6-8 sessions, with maintenance every 6-12 months. Prices per session: small areas £45–£75, medium £95–£165, large £195–£295. The patch test is free; the £65 consultation is redeemable in full against treatment. Mon-Fri 8am-7pm by appointment. CQC compliant.

Laser hair removal in London is a crowded category — chain clinics, hair-and-beauty salons, dedicated laser centres, dermatology practices. The honest case for Dental & Wellness London, made specifically against the alternatives within a mile of Islington N1:
Integrated clinical assessment. Laser hair removal at DWL is not a service bolted onto a hair-and-beauty offering. It sits structurally inside a multi-discipline private medical clinic — dental, aesthetic medicine, body wellness, integrative wellness — under one roof at 222 Essex Road. The consultation is a clinical assessment, not a sales appointment. Where the consultation flags a hormonal driver (PCOS, post-pill regrowth, perimenopause), the integrative wellness team is in the same building. Where it flags an underlying skin condition, the aesthetic medicine team is too. For wider skin concerns on the body, see our laser body rejuvenation treatments.
Lynton IPL and Lynton Nd:YAG laser, chosen for your skin type. We have both Lynton IPL and a Lynton Nd:YAG laser for darker skin, so we are not limited to one device. Which one we use, and at what settings, depends on your skin type and hair, and is confirmed after a patch test. If your concern is a tattoo rather than hair, our PicoWay alternative page explains how we approach tattoo removal with a Q-switched laser.
Clinician-led, not technician-led. Treatment is delivered by trained practitioners working to clinical protocols inside CQC-compliant premises. The consultation (£65, redeemable in full against treatment) is conducted by a clinician — we discuss your goals, your skin tone, your hormonal picture, your past laser history, and what's realistically achievable for you before any treatment.
Transparent pricing. All prices are published: small areas £45–£75, medium £95–£165 and large areas £195–£295 per session. No upselling at the appointment, no surprise add-ons, no opaque premium-tier pricing.
The consultation takes around 30 minutes and covers: clinical history (past laser treatments, medications, hormonal contraceptives, sun exposure, skin conditions); skin tone assessment using the Fitzpatrick scale and wavelength selection; hair type assessment; goal conversation; a free patch test in your chosen treatment area; and a plan and quote. You leave with the plan, the quote, and no obligation to proceed.
Beyond general unwanted hair reduction, laser is the clinical answer for PCOS-related hirsutism (in connection with our nutritional therapy team for the underlying hormonal picture), hirsutism from other endocrine causes, ingrown hair (pseudofolliculitis barbae), razor bumps and razor burn, folliculitis, and friction-zone hair. Where the underlying condition is medical, we work in connection with the patient's GP and refer when appropriate.

PCOS-related hirsutism, ingrown hairs, and other hormone-driven regrowth patterns are treated in connection with our nutritional therapy and GP referral network where appropriate.

Typically 6-8 sessions for 80-90% long-term reduction. Facial areas may need 8-10. Maintenance every 6-12 months keeps results indefinitely.
It depends on your skin type, which we assess at a free patch test. We use the Lynton laser or Lynton IPL, chosen to suit your skin, and darker skin types (Fitzpatrick IV-VI) need particular care with settings. Results vary.
Mild-to-moderate discomfort — a quick rubber-band snap or warm pinprick. Modern systems with integrated cooling are significantly more tolerable than older lasers. Numbing cream is available.
UK regulators require "permanent reduction" rather than "permanent removal" — realistic outcome is 80-90% long-term reduction with maintenance every 6-12 months.
No. Pregnancy is a contraindication. Treatment can resume after pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Yes. Period and menstrual cycle do not affect treatment safety.
When delivered by trained practitioners with appropriate equipment, very safe. Mild side effects (temporary redness) are common; serious side effects (burns, pigmentation change) are rare with modern technology and appropriate wavelength selection.
SPF50 daily for at least 2 weeks after each session, ideally 4 weeks. Treated skin is more photosensitive than usual. Sun exposure during this window risks post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and undermines treatment outcomes.
At least 4 weeks no significant sun exposure, no sunbeds, no tanning of any kind. Spray tan and self-tanner must be fully off 2 weeks before. For darker skin types (Fitzpatrick IV-VI) we recommend 6 weeks for tighter safety margins.
Yes, with the right device and settings. We use the Lynton Nd:YAG laser for darker skin, or Lynton IPL, chosen by skin type, and a free patch test is essential before treatment.
Yes, but with discipline. Schedule sessions 4 weeks apart from any deliberate sun exposure or holidays. SPF50 daily on treatment areas. Plan your course timing around summer travel. If your summer lifestyle includes significant sun exposure, winter scheduling is easier.
