Small areas £45 to £75, medium £95 to £165 and large areas £195 to £295 per session, with a free patch test before you start.
Laser hair removal at Dental & Wellness London, Islington is priced by area: £45 to £75 per session for small areas such as the upper lip, £95 to £165 for medium areas such as underarms or bikini, and £195 to £295 for large areas such as full legs or back. Most people need 6 to 8 sessions, 4 to 8 weeks apart, plus occasional top-ups. Treatment uses Lynton IPL or the Lynton Nd:YAG laser for darker skin, chosen for your skin type, under the oversight of Dr Vishal Patel.

At Dental & Wellness London, Islington, laser hair removal is priced by area: small areas such as the upper lip or chin are £45 to £75 per session, medium areas such as underarms or bikini are £95 to £165, and large areas such as full legs or back are £195 to £295. Most people need a course of 6 to 8 sessions, so it is worth looking at the cost of the full course, not just one visit.
Across the UK, prices vary widely by area and by clinic. We quote every area clearly before you start, and we will not suggest a course you do not need. The aim of this page is to explain what you are paying for, how the cost of a course builds up, and how to judge whether laser hair removal is good value for your hair and skin.
Every price below is per session, for one area. Where a price is shown as a range, the figure within it depends on the exact size of the area and how much time it takes to treat properly.
If the area you want treated is not listed here, we will confirm which band it falls into at your consultation, before you commit to anything. If you would like more than one area treated, we will plan the appointments with you so that the spacing suits each area, and you will know the per-session price of each one in advance.
Of these, the number of sessions has the largest effect on what you spend overall. That is why we talk about the course, not the single appointment, from the first conversation. A low price per session is not good value if the treatment is not suited to your hair, or if the settings are so cautious that you need many more visits to reach the same result.
The simplest way to estimate your total is to take the per-session price for your area and multiply it by the number of sessions we expect you to need. For most areas and most people with dark hair, that is 6 to 8 sessions. Facial hair, and hair growth driven by hormones, usually needs more, and is more likely to need regular top-ups afterwards.
Hair grows in cycles, and light only affects follicles in their active growth phase. Each session therefore treats a different group of hairs, and the reduction builds gradually across the course. Stopping halfway tends to leave noticeable regrowth, which is why we would rather give you a realistic course length at the start than a low first-visit figure that does not reflect the whole picture. Our laser hair removal sessions guide explains how many sessions different areas usually need.
After the course, most people need only occasional maintenance. Top-ups every 6 to 12 months are typical, and some people need them less often. We review your progress part-way through the course, and if you are responding more quickly than expected, we will tell you.
Before any laser or light treatment, we hold a skin consultation. It costs £65 and is redeemable in full against treatment, so if you go ahead, the consultation fee comes off what you pay. We look at your skin type, your hair colour and thickness, the area you want treated and your medical history, including any medicines that can make the skin more sensitive to light.
We also ask about previous hair removal, recent sun exposure or fake tan, and anything that may be driving the hair growth. If there is a reason to think the growth has a medical cause that has not been looked at, we will suggest you see your GP first. If laser hair removal is unlikely to work for you, for example because the hair is grey, white, red or very fair, we will say so at this stage rather than take payment for a course that will not help.
The patch test is free. We treat a small, discreet area at the settings we intend to use and check how your skin responds before the first full session. It is a simple step that allows us to treat effectively while keeping the risk of irritation or pigment change low.
For most people with dark hair, yes. Once a course is complete, many find it costs less over time than years of waxing or threading, and it saves time and skin irritation. It reduces hair growth substantially rather than removing every hair for ever, and we explain honestly what to expect for your hair and skin type.
The comparison is worth thinking through. Shaving, waxing, threading and depilatory creams all need repeating every few days or weeks, indefinitely. Each carries its own cost in money and time, and many people also deal with ingrown hairs, shaving rash or redness after waxing. A course of laser hair removal is a larger outlay at the start, but it reduces that ongoing routine considerably, and the hair that does grow back is often finer and lighter.
It is worth less for some people. If your hair is grey, white, red or very fair, light-based removal does not work well, because there is not enough pigment in the hair to absorb the energy. If your hair growth is strongly hormonal, you can still benefit, but you should expect a longer course and regular maintenance, and factor that into your decision.
Laser and IPL treatments deliver concentrated energy into the skin. The result depends as much on assessment and settings as on the device itself. Settings that are too cautious waste sessions, and settings that are too aggressive for the skin type can cause burns, blistering or patches of lighter or darker skin. Matching the device and settings to each person is where experience matters. See also IPL vs laser for how the two compare.
When comparing prices anywhere, it is reasonable to ask who will assess your skin, which device will be used and why, whether a patch test is included, and what happens if you have a reaction. We are happy to answer each of those questions at our clinic before you book.
Laser hair removal suits most adults with dark hair who want a lasting reduction in unwanted hair on the face or body. It is often chosen for the upper lip, chin, underarms, bikini line, legs and back, and by people who find shaving or waxing causes ingrown hairs and irritation.
There are times when we will suggest waiting. We do not treat during pregnancy. We postpone treatment if the area is tanned or recently exposed to strong sun, if there is broken or infected skin, or if you are taking a medicine that increases sensitivity to light. We do not treat over tattoos. None of these is a reason to rule treatment out permanently, but each changes when and how we can treat safely. Our guide to laser hair removal and sun exposure explains how the sun affects timing.
Our clinic on Essex Road has been part of the Islington community since 2009, and we are rated 4.7 stars from more than 300 Google reviews. Laser and light treatments are overseen by Dr Vishal Patel, who is trained by Lynton Lasers and has 10 years in facial aesthetics. You can read more on Dr Patel’s profile.
We have both a Lynton Nd:YAG laser and Lynton IPL, which means we are not limited to one device. The choice is made for your skin and hair, not for convenience. Our comparison of laser hair removal vs IPL explains the difference. We work by consultation first, we quote clearly, and we will tell you when a treatment is not the right answer.
Read how many sessions most areas need on our laser hair removal sessions guide. The clinic is at 222 Essex Road, Islington, London N1 3AP, two minutes from Essex Road station and a short ride from Angel, Highbury, Canonbury, Hackney and Stoke Newington. Many patients cycle or use a Lime or Forest e-bike. Buses 38, 56, 73, 341 and 476 stop on Essex Road, and we are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm, by appointment.

For most people with dark hair, yes. It reduces growth substantially and often costs less over time than years of waxing. It does not remove every hair permanently, and occasional top-ups are normal.
It gives long-term reduction rather than complete, permanent removal. Most treated follicles stop producing hair, and any regrowth is usually finer. Hormonal changes can prompt new growth, which top-ups can manage.
