A three-step in-clinic treatment that exfoliates, clears congestion and infuses hydrating serums — visible brightness the same day, with no downtime.
HydraFacial is a three-step clinical facial that exfoliates, clears congestion with gentle suction and infuses hydrating serums. It suits most skin types and gives brighter, smoother skin the same day with no downtime. At Dental & Wellness London, Islington, it is from £160 per session, or £800 for a course of six. It does not treat deep lines, sagging or active acne.

HydraFacial is a three-step clinical facial that cleanses and exfoliates, clears congestion with gentle suction, and infuses hydrating and antioxidant serums, all with one device. It suits most skin types, including sensitive skin, and leaves skin brighter, smoother and better hydrated the same day, with no downtime. At our Islington clinic on Essex Road, it is one of the treatments people most often ask for by name, and one of the most useful when it is matched to the right skin.
HydraFacial has become one of the most recognised names in skincare, which is both its strength and its difficulty. The name promises a great deal, and the treatment is genuinely good, but it is good at specific things. We would rather tell you which things than let you book it expecting it to do work it was never designed for.
So, plainly: it is a brightening and maintenance treatment. It does not rebuild deeper skin quality, soften established lines or replace a medical plan for active acne, and we will tell you if something else would help more. Knowing that boundary before you spend is the difference between a result you are pleased with and one that falls short of what you were hoping for.
The treatment is built around a single device that does three jobs in sequence. Each pass prepares the skin for the next, which is why the order matters.
The whole treatment takes around thirty to forty-five minutes. There is no needling and no recovery period, and most people return to work or their day straight afterwards.
For dull, dehydrated or congested skin, yes. Most people see an immediate glow that lasts two to four weeks, and a course builds smoother texture and clearer pores. If your skin is very reactive, or you have active inflammatory acne or rosacea, we may adjust the treatment or suggest a different starting point, such as LED light therapy or our Illumi facial.
It tends to suit:
It is less suitable, or needs adapting, where there is:
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us at booking. Many people do have facials at this time, but we assess you first and keep the serums conservative.
The result is temporary without repeat sessions, and it will not change deeper lines or laxity. Mild redness can last an hour or two. For deeper concerns, treatments such as Profhilo or microneedling work at a different level.
The other limitation is expectation. A single session is a good reset, but the more lasting improvement in skin quality comes from regularity, and some people book a one-off hoping for a change that only a course, or a different treatment altogether, can give. We would rather explain that at the start.
Before anything else, we look at your skin properly: its type, how it is behaving at the moment, any sensitivity, the products you use at home and what you would like to improve. If the skin is reactive or flaring, we adapt the exfoliation and serums or suggest waiting. If HydraFacial is not the right starting point, we say so.
During treatment you lie back while the device works across the face in the three passes. Afterwards, the skin usually looks brighter and feels smoother straight away. Some people have a light pinkness for an hour or two. We recommend avoiding heavy exfoliants, retinoids and intense heat, such as a sauna, for a day or two, and using a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, as you would after any exfoliating treatment.
Results are visible immediately: skin looks clearer, more even and better hydrated the same day. That immediacy is why HydraFacial is popular before a wedding, a holiday or a significant work event. The glow typically lasts two to four weeks.
For ongoing maintenance, a session every four to six weeks suits most people. A course of six, spaced through the year or more closely at the start, builds a more sustained improvement in texture and pore clarity than occasional one-off sessions. Results vary from person to person, and depend a great deal on what happens at home, particularly sun protection and a consistent routine.
A traditional facial is largely manual and relaxation-led. HydraFacial uses a device to exfoliate, extract congestion by gentle suction and infuse serums in a standardised sequence, so extraction and hydration are more thorough and the result more consistent. Both have their place; HydraFacial leans clinical rather than purely indulgent. For a wider comparison, see HydraFacial vs microdermabrasion vs chemical peel.
Compared with treatments that work beneath the surface, the difference is depth. Microneedling stimulates collagen to improve texture and scarring over time. Profhilo and other skin boosters improve hydration and early laxity from within the skin. Energy-based treatments work on firmness. When someone comes to us wanting one treatment to do everything, the honest answer is usually a short sequence of the right treatments, and HydraFacial is often the maintenance layer that sits alongside them rather than the centrepiece.
At our Islington clinic a HydraFacial is from £160 per session, or £800 for a course of six. See the full breakdown on our HydraFacial cost page.
The single-session price lets you have one before an event without committing to anything further. The course suits people who want ongoing maintenance and the cumulative benefit of regular treatment. There is no obligation to buy a course, and if a fuller skin assessment would be helpful first, a skin and aesthetic consultation is £65 and is redeemable in full against treatment.
It is a fair question why a dental and wellness clinic in Islington is a good place for a facial. The answer is that the face is not a set of separate zones, and the people best placed to plan skin treatment are often those who understand the structures beneath it. Our skin services are led by Dr Vishal Patel, BDS, MSc Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry, GDC 103127, who has around twenty years in dentistry and ten years in facial aesthetics. His training includes the International Fellowship in Advanced Aesthetic Science, a facial anatomy and cadaver course with Dr Ali Pirayesh at the University of Amsterdam, and NeoStrata training in peels and skincare.
That matters for a HydraFacial because it means the treatment sits inside a considered plan rather than standing alone. If your skin would benefit more from a peel, LED, microneedling or a skin booster, or from a GP or dermatologist referral, we will tell you. Where it helps, our pharmacy partner can also supply medical-grade home skincare, so the result is supported between visits.
We have been on Essex Road since 2009 and are rated 4.7 from more than 300 Google reviews. Appointments are by arrangement, Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm.
The clinic is at 222 Essex Road, Islington, London N1 3AP, two minutes from Essex Road station and a short ride from Angel, Highbury, Canonbury, Hackney and Stoke Newington. Essex Road station is on the Great Northern line between Moorgate, Old Street and Highbury & Islington, and the 38, 56, 73, 341 and 476 buses all run along Essex Road. Many patients cycle or use a Lime or Forest e-bike. If you are coming from nearby, see our pages for Angel, Canonbury and Highbury.

A regular facial is mostly manual. HydraFacial uses one device to exfoliate, clear congestion with gentle suction and infuse serums, so the result is more consistent and there is no squeezing.
No. The suction feels like a light tug and most people find it relaxing. There are no needles and no downtime.
The result is temporary without repeat sessions, and it will not soften deep lines or lift sagging skin. Mild redness can last an hour or two.
Every four to six weeks suits most people for maintenance, because a result lasts two to four weeks. A course of six, roughly monthly, builds a more lasting improvement.
At Dental & Wellness London, Islington, a HydraFacial is from £160 per session, or £800 for a course of six. London prices typically range from about £150 to over £300.
Many people do, but we keep the serums conservative and check with you first. Please tell us at booking if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
