Binta Patel is our life and relationship coach — ICF ACC accredited. Coaching is goal-oriented and present-and-future focused, rather than the past-oriented exploration of psychotherapy.
Life and relationship coaching at Dental Wellness London is delivered by Binta Patel — ICF (International Coach Federation) ACC accredited coach. Coaching differs from psychotherapy in its orientation: present-and-future focused rather than past-oriented, goal-driven rather than insight-driven, action-oriented rather than meaning-making. Coaching supports adults working on specific life goals, career transitions, relationship patterns, leadership development, communication patterns, and structured personal growth work. Sessions 60 minutes, typically weekly or fortnightly for an initial period. From £120 per session.

Life coaching is goal-oriented work, distinct from psychotherapy — we refer to therapy when that's the right room instead.

| Discovery call — 20–30 minutes, free | Mutual fit assessment. You describe what you want to change; the coach describes how they work. Either party can decide it isn't right. |
| Intake session — around 90 minutes | A structured map of where you are, where you want to be, what has happened so far, and what success would actually look like. You agree frequency, format and goals. |
| Regular sessions — 50–60 minutes each | Weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Each opens with progress since last time, works the most important current question, and closes with one or two specific actions. |
| Midpoint review — around session four or five | An honest stocktake, goal recalibration if needed, and a clear-eyed decision about continuing. |
| Closing session | Reflection on what changed, what worked, and how to hold the progress without ongoing sessions. |
| Optional follow-up — 3–6 months later | A check-in to consolidate gains and catch any drift. |

Most engagements run 6–12 sessions across three to six months. Six is usually enough for a single, focused goal. Twelve suits broader work, like rethinking your relationship with your career altogether.
Most UK private health insurance does not cover life coaching, as it is classed as wellness rather than medical treatment. Some workplace wellbeing programmes include coaching benefits.
Yes — for functional stress. Coaching helps you clarify boundaries, build coping strategies, and make structural decisions about your career. For clinical-level burnout, see your GP first.
Rates vary with a coach's training and accumulated hours. As a guide, newer ICF ACC practitioners charge around £80–£120 an hour, established PCC coaches £125–£200, and senior specialists £200–£500+. A focused programme typically runs £450–£1,400.
Life coaches work with personal direction, relationships, habits and broad life goals. Executive coaches specialise in leadership, performance under pressure and senior decision-making.
A good coach asks better questions than they answer. The aim is for you to reach your own decision, because that produces deeper commitment. A coach who keeps telling you what to do has quietly slipped into consulting.
