What makes Dental & Wellness London's approach different? (Biological)

We were built as an integrative clinic in 2009, with dentistry, Ayurvedic medicine, nutrition and wellness under one roof and six practitioners who can work together.

Are amalgam fillings dangerous?

Major dental and regulatory bodies regard dental amalgam as safe for most people and do not recommend removing sound fillings for health reasons.

Do you remove mercury amalgam fillings?

We do, for patients who choose to — usually for cosmetic or personal-preference reasons — using recognised safe-removal precautions. We do not advise removing sound amalgam for general-health reasons.

Is biological dentistry the same as holistic dentistry?

The terms overlap and are often used interchangeably. Both emphasise the mouth-body connection and conservative, biocompatible care.

What is biological dentistry?

It is an approach that treats the mouth as part of the whole body, favours minimally invasive techniques and biocompatible materials, and considers how dental treatment interacts with general health.

Are there risks of graft failure?

As with any procedure there are risks, including the graft not integrating as hoped, but with proper planning, good site selection and aftercare these are low.

What is a sinus lift?

A procedure that gently raises the floor of the sinus in the upper back jaw to create the height needed for an implant, where the air space naturally sits too low.

How much extra does grafting cost?

Bone grafting and sinus lifts are quoted in writing after assessment, because the cost depends on the type and extent of grafting needed. Any grafting fee is in addition to the implant fee, which starts from £2,200 including the crown.

How long does the graft take to mature?

Usually three to six months before an implant can be placed into it, depending on the size of the graft.

Where does the graft material come from?

In most routine cases, processed graft material rather than bone taken from your own body. Your own bone gradually grows into and replaces it.

Will I definitely need a bone graft?

Not necessarily — and the only honest way to know is a CBCT scan. Many patients have enough bone, or enough that angled placement reaches it without grafting.

Can I get composite bonding with crooked teeth?

For mild crookedness — yes, bonding can mask small irregularities by reshaping the contour. For significant crowding, Invisalign first is the better answer.

Will composite bonding stain?

Gradually, over years. Premium nanohybrid composites resist stain well early on; stain margins develop slowly over 3-5 years.

Can composite bonding be removed?

In most cases, yes. The bonding sits on the surface of the natural tooth with minimal or no enamel removal, so removal returns the tooth close to its original state.

Is composite bonding painful?

Usually no anaesthetic is needed — there is no drilling into tooth structure in most cases, just bonding resin onto the surface. Sensitivity for 24-48 hours afterwards is occasional but uncommon.

How long does composite bonding last?

5-7 years on average, with care extending the upper end. Hygiene every six months, a night guard if you grind, and avoiding biting hard objects make the difference.

Do you offer aesthetic medicine alongside cosmetic dentistry?

Yes. Dr Vee Patel is a cosmetic dentist and a trained aesthetic injector. The principle is that the smile fits the face, not just the teeth fit the mouth.

Should I have Invisalign before cosmetic work?

Often, yes. Moving a tooth into the right position with Invisalign is almost always more conservative and cost-effective than building a tooth up cosmetically to compensate for its position.

How long does cosmetic dentistry last?

Composite bonding typically lasts five to ten years. Porcelain veneers last ten to fifteen years. Whitening lasts six months to two years. Invisalign results are permanent if retainers are worn as instructed.

Composite bonding vs veneers — which is right for me?

Bonding suits smaller cosmetic changes, a conservative reversible option, and tighter budgets. Veneers suit substantial shape change, deep discolouration, or longevity over reversibility.

What's the most popular cosmetic dental treatment?

Composite bonding, by a wide margin. It is conservative, reversible, well-priced, and delivers a change that most patients seeking cosmetic dental work are actually looking for.

How much does a cosmetic dentist cost in Islington?

Cosmetic dental work starts from £175 for simple composite bonding (£350 for complex cases), with porcelain veneers from £750 per tooth and Invisalign from £2,200 (Express), with Invisalign consultations free. Each plan is confirmed in writing after assessment.

Single implant or bridge — which is better?

For one missing tooth, a single implant is usually the better long-term choice because it replaces the tooth without grinding down the healthy teeth either side.

How long is implant recovery?

Initial recovery from placement is quick — most swelling and tenderness settle within a few days to a week. The longer phase, osseointegration, takes roughly three to six months before the final crown is fitted.

Can I have dental implants if I have bone loss?

Often, yes. Bone grafting can rebuild the lost area to create a solid foundation. Whether it is needed, and the cost, is quoted in writing after assessment and imaging.
