Will masseter treatment cure my TMJ?

Skin

No single intervention cures TMJ pain. The Davies splint addresses the bite cause and often eases pain substantially within 4–8 weeks. Adding masseter aesthetic medicine accelerates visible muscle recovery for patients with significant established hypertrophy. For comprehensive TMJ pain, combined approaches (splint + possibly aesthetic + sometimes somatic or nutritional input) produce better long-term outcomes than any single treatment.

Will laser cure my PCOS hair?

Skin

No — laser is supportive treatment for the cosmetic symptom. PCOS is medical condition needing medical management. Combined approach produces better outcomes than laser alone.

Will it stop sweating completely?

Skin

Substantial reduction (typically 80%+ in treated area for underarm cases) but not complete elimination. Some baseline sweating is preserved which is appropriate — complete elimination isn't desirable for thermoregulation.

Will it scar?

Skin

The risk is low with a Q-switched laser and appropriate technique, and any marks that do occur are usually subtle. People with a tendency to keloid scarring carry a higher risk, which we assess at the free patch test and consultation. Results vary.

Will it make me sweat more elsewhere?

Skin

Compensatory sweating (increased sweating in untreated areas) occurs in a minority of patients. Usually mild. Discussed at consultation. For patients where compensatory sweating would be problematic we'd assess case-by-case.

Will it last longer if I have more?

Skin

Possibly yes, but at the cost of function preservation. Larger doses produce longer duration but increase the risk of subtle effects on eating, drinking, kissing, and speech. We don't recommend larger doses for the duration gain.

Will it come back?

Skin

Without ongoing sun protection and maintenance, yes. Hormonal changes (pregnancy, contraception) also reactivate.

Will it affect my speech?

Skin

At appropriate doses, no — normal speech remains intact because the masseter isn't a primary speech muscle. The muscles for speech (lips, tongue, soft palate) aren't affected by masseter treatment. If speech feels different, it's usually a subjective sensation rather than measurable change and resolves within 1–2 weeks.

Will it affect my smile?

Skin

Done correctly, no — normal smiling and speaking remain intact. We under-dose by design specifically to preserve function. If the dose were larger you could see subtle changes to wide smile or certain consonant pronunciation. Smaller dose, shorter duration, preserved function — that's the trade we make.

Will it affect how I speak?

Skin

At the conservative doses we use, no — normal speech and pronunciation remain intact. Larger doses elsewhere can affect speech; we under-dose specifically to preserve function. If you notice any speech change after the first week, we'd review and adjust at follow-up.

Will it actually lift my face?

Skin

'Lift' in the surgical sense — no, non-surgical treatments don't produce surgical-level structural lift. What they do produce: improved skin firmness, softer jowl line where early jowling present, better-defined jawline, restored support where volume genuinely missing. Substantive improvement, not surgical transformation.

Will Invisalign change how much gum I show?

Skin

Possibly — depending on which teeth are moving and how. Some Invisalign cases reduce gum show (teeth move down slightly); some increase it (teeth move up slightly). This is one of the reasons to wait until Invisalign completes before doing lip flip for smile-aesthetic reasons.

Will I need to take painkillers?

Skin

No prescribed painkillers. Standard over-the-counter ibuprofen or paracetamol before the appointment is fine if you anticipate sensitivity. Most patients don't need anything beyond the topical numbing.

Will I need to keep having masseter treatment forever?

Skin

Not necessarily. Patients who address the underlying bite (Davies splint) often see reducing maintenance frequency over 1–2 years. Some stop entirely after 2–3 years as the muscle adapts to controlled bite forces. Patients who treat the muscle in isolation without addressing the bite typically remain on indefinite maintenance.

Will I need to keep coming back forever?

Skin

For most patients, maintenance touch-ups every 6–12 months sustain results — not 'forever' in an aggressive sense, but ongoing low-intensity maintenance. For hormonally-driven cases the maintenance commitment is more substantial. Discussed at consultation.

Will I need a top-up?

Skin

After the starting two-session course, yes — typically a single maintenance session every 6–9 months at £550. After 2–3 maintenance sessions most patients settle into a predictable annual or twice-yearly pattern. The cumulative gains over 2–3 years are substantial; the maintenance cost is predictable and small relative to the long-term skin quality benefit.

Can a double chin be removed permanently?

Skin

Treated fat cells do not return, so results can last with a stable weight, though ageing continues.

Will I look done with filler?

Skin

Possible but avoidable. The 'over-filled' look comes from excessive cumulative filler placement over multiple sessions without honest assessment between sessions. At DWL we conservative-place and assess at 4 weeks. Patients who want to specifically avoid the over-filled look often choose lip flip as the first treatment to test their tolerance for visible change.

Will I have visible scars?

Skin

No — entry points are tiny and don't leave visible scarring. Threads enter through pinpoint openings.

Will I have teeth the same day?

Skin

Yes — a provisional bridge is fitted on the surgery day so you leave with teeth. The provisional bridge is worn throughout the 3–6 month healing period. The final permanent bridge is fitted once the implants have fully integrated with bone.

Will I have downtime?

Skin

Minimal per session. Profhilo bumps resolve in hours. Lynton mild redness 24 hours. Filler mild swelling 24-72 hours. Threads 3-5 days of mild discomfort. No surgical-recovery period at any point.

Will I have a saggy neck after?

Skin

This is exactly why we combine Onda with skin tightening for moderate cases. Reducing fat without supporting skin contraction can leave loose skin. The combined approach addresses both. For cases with already-good skin elasticity, Onda alone may suffice.

Will I get the same outcome?

Skin

For the skin tightening indication Morpheus8 markets, our Lynton + Profhilo combined approaches in our experience produce comparable outcomes more predictably and often at comparable cost. Onda for fat reduction is a different category — comparing Onda to Morpheus8 isn't really comparing equivalents.

Will I definitely use the full 5 years?

Skin

Most patients complete main treatment within 12 to 18 months, though this varies by case. The Unlimited plan provides refinements as the case requires, together with multi-year aligner cover, so you are not paying again if further aligners are needed. Full terms and conditions apply, and your ClinCheck gives the expected timeline.

Will I be referred for surgery if I need it?

Skin

Yes — we refer to ENT/maxillofacial colleagues where surgical rhinoplasty is the more honest answer. About 1 in 3 nasal consultations result in either 'do nothing' or 'surgical referral' rather than non-surgical treatment.
