How do I get to your implant clinic in Islington?

Dental

Is Dental & Wellness London an NHS dentist?

Dental

No. We are a private practice and do not provide NHS treatment. That allows longer appointments, a choice of materials and continuity with the same clinical lead. If you are eligible for and can access NHS care, it may suit routine needs well, and we are always happy to explain the difference honestly.

How long do dental implants last?

Dental

A well-placed implant in a healthy, well-maintained mouth can last for many years, and the evidence for carefully selected cases is strong. Results vary, though, and no implant is guaranteed for life. The crown may need replacing over time through ordinary wear. Regular hygiene visits, reviews and not smoking make the biggest difference to longevity.

How much does a private dentist cost in Islington?

Dental

At Dental & Wellness London a dental examination is £65 for 30 minutes, including a full risk assessment. Hygiene is £85, or £135 for Diamond hygiene with air polish. Treatment such as composite bonding starts at £175. Every plan is itemised in writing before work begins, and 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.

What if I do not have enough bone for an implant?

Dental

Thin or shallow bone is common where a tooth has been missing for some time. It rarely rules implants out: bone grafting, and in the upper back jaw a sinus lift, can often rebuild enough volume. Grafting is quoted in writing after assessment. Where grafting is not sensible, a bridge or denture may be the better answer.

Can orthodontic treatment fix teeth that moved after braces?

Dental

Often, yes. Relapse after teenage braces is common, and mild cases are frequently treated with a short course of aligners such as Invisalign Express. We assess why the teeth moved, correct the alignment and plan retention properly so the result is held. Results vary, and we explain what is realistic at consultation.

Can I have an implant if I have gum disease?

Dental

Not while it is active. Gum disease raises the risk of peri-implantitis, which can cost an implant. We treat the gums first, usually with periodontal treatment and regular hygiene visits, and plan the implant once they are stable. Many patients who start with gum problems go on to have implants successfully once their gums are healthy.

How do I get to the practice from Highbury or Angel?

Dental

Highbury & Islington is one stop from Essex Road station, which is two minutes' walk from 222 Essex Road. From Angel, allow 15–20 minutes on foot, or take a 38, 56, 73, 341 or 476 bus along Essex Road. Many patients cycle or use Lime and Forest e-bikes.

Who places dental implants at your Islington clinic?

Dental

Implants are assessed and placed by Dr Rishil Patel, our implant dentist. He qualified BDS (Hons) from King's College London in 2008 and holds an MClinDent in Implantology and the MJDF; his GDC number is 154292. He plans each case from the first assessment through to the final crown at 222 Essex Road, N1 3AP.

Do you treat teenagers?

Dental

We provide clear-aligner treatment for teenagers from around 14 where the case suits it. Younger children, or growing patients who need their jaw growth managed, are better seen by a specialist orthodontist, and we will refer where that is the right route. Children's dental examinations at the practice are £45.

How much is a dental implant in Islington?

Dental

A single implant at Dental & Wellness London on Essex Road is from £2,200, including the implant, abutment and crown. Bone grafting, implant bridges and full-arch cases are quoted in writing after assessment. The implant consultation is £120, and 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.

Which is better, Invisalign or braces?

Dental

Neither is better for everyone. Invisalign is removable and nearly invisible, and suits most adult cases. Fixed ceramic braces can be more predictable for certain complex movements and do not rely on you wearing them. We compare both against your scan at consultation and recommend the one that fits your teeth and routine.

Where is your hygienist based in London?

Dental

We are at 222 Essex Road, Islington, N1 3AP, two minutes from Essex Road station and one stop from Highbury & Islington or Old Street. Buses 38, 56, 73, 341 and 476 stop nearby, and Angel is a 15–20 minute walk. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm (Tuesday from 9am).

Is the orthodontic consultation free?

Dental

Yes. Orthodontic consultations, including Invisalign, are free. The appointment includes an examination of your teeth, gums and bite, an iTero digital scan and, for aligner cases, a ClinCheck preview of the planned movement. You leave with a written plan and fee, and there is no obligation to proceed.

Does seeing a hygienist help with bad breath?

Dental

Often, yes. Persistent bad breath is frequently linked to plaque and bacteria below the gumline and on the tongue, which a hygiene visit addresses. If it continues despite good cleaning, other causes need investigating, sometimes with your GP. Our guide to bad breath explains the common causes.

How much does orthodontic treatment cost in Islington?

Dental

At our Essex Road practice, Invisalign Express is £2,200, Moderate £3,400 and Unlimited £4,500–£4,900. Spark aligners, clear ceramic braces and Six Month Smiles are quoted in writing after assessment. Orthodontic consultations are free, and 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.

Can a dentist provide braces and aligners in the UK?

Dental

Yes. In the UK, GDC-registered dentists can provide orthodontic treatment, including clear aligners and cosmetic fixed braces such as Six Month Smiles, after appropriate training. Dr Vishal Patel is an Invisalign Diamond II provider and a registered Six Month Smiles provider. Where a case is complex or skeletal, or may need jaw surgery, we explain this and refer you to a specialist orthodontist.

Can I get to you easily from Highbury or Angel?

Dental

Yes. Highbury & Islington is one stop from Essex Road station, which is two minutes from the practice. From Angel, allow 15–20 minutes on foot, or take a bus along Essex Road. Many patients cycle or use Lime and Forest e-bikes; Dalston is about ten minutes away by bike.

Do I need a dentist referral to see a hygienist?

Dental

No. In the UK you can book a hygienist directly, and at our clinic you do not need to be a registered patient. We still recommend a regular dental examination, which is £65 for 30 minutes, because a dentist checks for decay, cracks and other problems that sit outside the hygienist’s focus.

Who provides Invisalign at the clinic?

Dental

Dr Vishal Patel plans and oversees every Invisalign course himself. He is an Invisalign Diamond II provider, in the top 1% of UK Invisalign providers, with an MSc in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry, and a registered Six Month Smiles provider. Where a case is complex or skeletal, we tell you and refer you to a specialist orthodontist.

Is Diamond hygiene worth the extra cost?

Dental

It depends on your teeth. Diamond hygiene, at £135 for 30 minutes, adds air polishing, which removes heavy stain and plaque biofilm efficiently and suits implants, aligners and sensitive teeth. If your staining is light and your gums are healthy, the standard £85 appointment is usually all you need.

How long does Invisalign take?

Dental

Mild crowding or small gaps can be corrected in a few months. More involved cases, including bite correction, can take eighteen months or longer. Results vary with the case and with how consistently the aligners are worn, ideally 20 to 22 hours a day. We give you a realistic timeline in writing after your ClinCheck.

How much does Invisalign cost in Islington?

Dental

Invisalign Express is £2,200, Moderate is £3,400 and Unlimited is £4,500–£4,900. Which plan you need depends on how far your teeth need to move, which we confirm after the scan. Retainers are quoted in writing with your plan, and 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.

What is the difference between a scale and polish and a deep clean?

Dental

A scale and polish mainly cleans above the gumline. A deep clean also removes calculus from the pockets below the gumline, where gum disease develops. At our clinic, the deep clean is part of the standard 30-minute hygiene appointment at £85, rather than an additional charge.

How often should I see a dental hygienist?

Dental

Every six months suits many people. Smokers, people with diabetes, those wearing aligners and anyone with a history of gum disease often benefit from three- or four-monthly visits. The right interval depends on your gum measurements and how well plaque is controlled at home, so we review it at each appointment.
