What is the dual arch Invisalign price?

Dental

At Dental & Wellness London, most cases treating both arches sit on Invisalign Moderate at £3,400 or Unlimited at £4,500–£4,900; simple ones occasionally fit Express at £2,200. The plan depends on how far the teeth need to move and whether the bite is being corrected. It is confirmed in writing after the free consultation.

Are porcelain-bonded or Emax crowns better?

Dental

Both are reliable. Porcelain-bonded crowns have a metal core and suit back teeth under heavy load. Full-ceramic Emax crowns contain no metal and transmit light like natural enamel, so they suit visible teeth and many back teeth. We recommend the material that fits the tooth position, your bite and how visible it is.

Do you replace old silver fillings with onlays?

Dental

Where a large amalgam filling has failed or the tooth around it has cracked, a ceramic onlay or inlay is often the right replacement. We do not advise removing sound, functioning fillings without a clinical reason. If you would like old fillings changed by choice, we discuss the options and precautions at assessment.

Can a cracked tooth be saved with an onlay?

Dental

Often, if the crack has not reached the root. Covering the weakened cusps with an onlay holds the tooth together under biting load and can prevent the crack spreading. If the crack is deeper, a crown or, in some cases, root canal treatment may be needed. We assess cracks with magnification and X-rays first.

How many appointments does a crown or onlay take?

Dental

Usually two. At the first, the tooth is prepared under local anaesthetic, scanned and fitted with a temporary. The laboratory then makes the ceramic over about two weeks, and at the second visit we check the fit, colour and bite before bonding it permanently. A review follows at your next examination.

Is an onlay as strong as a crown?

Dental

A well-bonded ceramic onlay is very strong and, because it keeps more natural tooth, often gives the tooth itself a better long-term outlook. A crown provides more coverage and is the safer choice when little healthy structure remains or a back tooth has been root-filled. We explain which your tooth needs and why.

What is a sinus lift for dental implants?

Dental

A sinus lift adds bone height in the upper back jaw, where the sinus often sits close above the old tooth roots. The sinus floor is gently raised and graft material placed beneath it. Smaller lifts can be done through the implant site; larger ones need several months of healing first.

How much do crowns, onlays and inlays cost in London?

Dental

At Dental & Wellness London a ceramic inlay is £750, a ceramic onlay £850, a porcelain-bonded crown £950 and a full-ceramic Emax crown up to £1,200. The examination is £65. Your exact fee is confirmed in writing before treatment, and 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.

Is a bone graft a major operation?

Dental

Usually not. Most implant grafts are minor procedures under local anaesthetic, often done at the same appointment as an extraction or implant. They use prepared graft material rather than bone from your hip. Larger ridge augmentations and lateral sinus lifts are more involved, and we explain exactly what yours involves beforehand.

What is the difference between a crown, an onlay and an inlay?

Dental

An inlay fills a cavity within the tooth, between the cusps. An onlay also covers one or more cusps to protect weakened walls. A crown covers the whole visible tooth. All three are made in a laboratory, usually in ceramic, and we choose the smallest one that will give your tooth a stable, long-term result.

How long does a bone graft take to heal?

Dental

Most grafts take three to six months to mature before an implant can be placed. Small grafts are often placed with the implant, so they heal together. Discomfort from the procedure itself usually settles within a week. We check healing at review visits before moving to the implant stage.

How much does a bone graft for implants cost?

Dental

Grafting costs depend on the type and size, from a small socket graft to a lateral sinus lift, so we quote in writing after assessment and itemise it alongside the implant. A single implant is from £2,200 including the crown, the consultation is £120, and 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.

Do I need a bone graft for a dental implant?

Dental

Not necessarily. A 3D scan measures the height and width of bone at the planned site. If there is enough, no graft is needed. If it is slightly short, a shorter or angled implant may avoid grafting. A graft is recommended only when the scan shows the implant would otherwise lack secure support.

How do I find a good biological dentist in London?

Dental

Check that the dentist is GDC-registered, ask what they do differently in practice, and be cautious of anyone promising that dental work will cure illness. Our clinic at 222 Essex Road, N1 3AP, two minutes from Essex Road station, has practised conservative, whole-health dentistry since 2009 and is rated 4.7 from over 300 Google reviews.

Do biological dentists use fluoride?

Dental

Some avoid it. We follow UK public-health guidance, which supports fluoride toothpaste because the evidence that it reduces decay is strong. We are happy to discuss fluoride if you have questions, and we respect informed decisions, but we will not describe it as harmful at the levels used in dentistry.

Which sports need a mouthguard?

Dental

Rugby, hockey, lacrosse, boxing, MMA and other combat sports carry the clearest risk, and many clubs expect players to wear a guard. Basketball, cricket close to the bat, skating and mountain biking also carry a real risk of dental injury. If a ball, stick, elbow or the ground can meet your face, a fitted guard is worth considering.

How many appointments does a custom gum shield take?

Dental

Usually two. At the first we check the teeth, take a scan or impressions and discuss the sport and design. At the second, one to two weeks later, we fit and adjust the guard and show you how to care for it. If you already have a check-up booked with us, the first step can often be done at the same visit.

Is a custom mouthguard better than boil-and-bite?

Dental

In most cases, yes. Boil-and-bite guards are moulded at home, and the process tends to thin the material over the front teeth that need most protection. A custom guard is made in a laboratory to an accurate model of your teeth, so its thickness is controlled and its edges are trimmed to the gums. It stays up without clenching, which makes it far more likely to be worn.

How much does a custom sports mouthguard cost?

Dental

The price depends on the design: single-layer for lower-contact sport, laminated multi-layer for rugby and hockey, or a thicker combat-sports guard. We quote it in writing after assessment so you know the full figure before anything is made. If you are a new patient, a 30-minute dental examination is £65, and a children's examination is £45.

Where can I get Spark aligners near Islington?

Dental

Our practice is at 222 Essex Road, Islington, London N1 3AP, two minutes from Essex Road station and one stop from Highbury & Islington. Buses 38, 56, 73, 341 and 476 stop on Essex Road, and Angel is a 15–20 minute walk. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm (Tuesday from 9am), by appointment.

Do I need a retainer after Spark aligners?

Dental

Yes. Teeth tend to drift throughout life, so retainers hold the result once treatment ends. Most patients wear a removable retainer at night, sometimes with a bonded retainer behind the front teeth. Retainers are quoted in writing with the treatment plan, so the full cost is clear from the start.

Can I eat and drink with Spark aligners in?

Dental

Remove them to eat and to drink anything other than plain water. Sugary or acidic drinks trapped under the trays raise the risk of decay, and coffee, tea and red wine can stain both aligners and teeth. Brush before putting the aligners back in. Keeping them out for meals and drinks within the 22-hour wear time is the main daily discipline.

Do Spark aligners hurt?

Dental

Most people feel pressure or mild tenderness for a day or two after changing to a new set, which settles quickly. There are no brackets or wires to rub the cheeks. The trays are trimmed to follow the gum line, which many patients find comfortable. Persistent pain is not normal, and we would want to see you if it happens.

How much do Spark aligners cost?

Dental

At Dental & Wellness London, Spark treatment is quoted in writing after a free orthodontic consultation and iTero scan, because the fee depends on how complex the case is. We show you the comparable Invisalign plan alongside it; Invisalign Express is £2,200, Moderate £3,400 and Unlimited £4,500–£4,900. 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.

Is Spark better than Invisalign?

Dental

Neither is better for every case. For mild to moderate crowding and spacing, both work well when planned carefully and worn as directed. Invisalign has the longer track record and more established features for complex bite correction. Spark appeals to some patients for its material. We compare the two on your scan and recommend whichever suits your teeth.
