Which is more natural?

Skin

Profhilo is more naturally subtle because it doesn't change face shape. Filler can look very natural when conservatively placed for real volume loss; unnatural when overused without indication.

Which is cheapest?

Skin

Micro dermal abrasion and chemical peels are both from £160 per session, and microneedling is also from £160. HydraFacial is from £160 per session, or £800 for a course of six.

Which is cheaper?

Skin

It varies by case. Invisalign at DWL is Express £2,200, Moderate £3,400 or Unlimited £4,500–£4,900. Fixed braces are quoted in writing after assessment, so we can compare them with the appropriate Invisalign plan for your case. Lingual braces are not offered; we would refer you. The aim is to match the plan to the case.

Which is better for rosacea — IPL or BBL?

Skin

Both work well for vascular indications. Vascular IPL is well-established for rosacea management. We use Lynton IPL for our rosacea pathway. Whether you choose IPL or BBL clinically equivalent results are achievable. Consultation quality and clinician experience matter more than device brand.

Which is better for rosacea?

Skin

IPL typically. Vascular IPL is a mainstay rosacea management treatment — broad-spectrum protocol targets dilated capillaries. Pulsed-dye laser also effective but tends to produce more bruising than IPL.

Which treatment is best for pigmentation?

Skin

It depends on the type: laser or IPL for sun spots, peels and skincare for post-inflammatory marks, and a cautious skincare-led plan for melasma.

What is the downside of IPL?

Skin

Results build over several sessions rather than at once, and spots darken before they flake. IPL is not suitable for tanned skin, melasma, pregnancy or most darker skin types, and it does not lift sagging skin. Strict daily SPF is needed during and after the course.

Which is better for my skin type?

Skin

We use a Lynton laser or Lynton IPL, chosen by your skin type. For Fitzpatrick I–III both work well, and we choose by indication. For Fitzpatrick IV the laser is usually preferable and IPL protocols are cautious. For Fitzpatrick V–VI the laser is the appropriate choice, and IPL is not recommended because of the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. The free patch test confirms the right setting for you.

Which is better for hair removal?

Skin

Laser for darker hair on lighter skin (faster, more effective). IPL for larger areas where speed matters. Nd:YAG laser specifically for darker skin types. We assess at consultation and recommend the right device for your specific case.

Which is better?

Skin

Depends on case. Laser slightly more effective for coarse dark hair on lighter skin. IPL more versatile for some cases. We match modality to case.

Which is best for sensitive skin?

Skin

Hydrafacial — the gentlest of the three. The serum and intensity adapt for sensitive skin. Microdermabrasion can irritate sensitive skin; chemical peels need careful skin-type assessment before use on sensitive skin.

Which is best for face vs body?

Skin

HIFU and radiofrequency are mainly used on the face and neck; ONDA is a body treatment for stubborn fat. We do not offer HIFU or standalone radiofrequency. For facial skin quality and laxity we use Lynton laser lift and tighten and Profhilo, and for the body we use ONDA.

Which has more evidence?

Skin

All three are established technologies with published evidence for their main uses, so the choice depends on the indication rather than on which is newest. At our clinic we offer ONDA for body fat and Lynton laser for facial tightening. We do not offer HIFU or standalone radiofrequency.

Which has more downtime?

Skin

Thread lifts have 2-7 days of visible bruising, swelling, occasional asymmetry while threads settle. Skin tightening has minimal downtime — mild redness 24-48 hours and normal activity immediately. Thread lifts have higher downtime but immediate visible result.

Which does DWL use?

Skin

We use the Lynton laser or the Lynton IPL, chosen according to your skin type and the area being treated. A free patch test confirms the suitable device and settings before treatment begins. The choice for any individual depends on skin type, indication and case factors.

Which areas are most painful?

Skin

Underarms, bikini area, and upper lip are the most sensitive. Larger areas (legs, back) are less sensitive per unit area. Sensitivity reduces session by session as hair density falls.

When will I see Profhilo results?

Skin

Hydration and glow within 7–10 days; firmness and texture between weeks 6–8; peak result at weeks 8–12 after course completion. The biostimulator response is gradual by design — it's collagen and elastin production over weeks, not immediate volume addition. Patients who track in photographs see the change more clearly than those checking the daily mirror.

When will I see masseter slimming?

Skin

Subtle softening from week 4–6; visible contour change from week 8–12; peak result at 3–4 months from a single session. Cumulative across maintenance sessions over the first 1–2 years. Patients who track in photographs see the change more clearly than those checking the daily mirror.

When should we start?

Skin

After adult tooth eruption typically completes (most patients 13+). Earlier intervention sometimes appropriate for specific developmental issues.

When should I call the clinic?

Skin

Call us for blistering of any size, open weeping skin, severe pain not responding to cool compresses, redness lasting more than 5 days, significant swelling beyond 72 hours, or any sign of infection. We respond during business hours; for urgent concerns outside those hours, NHS 111 is the appropriate next step.

When is skin tightening better than thread lifts?

Skin

Skin tightening is better for generalised mild-to-moderate skin laxity, body areas, younger patients with responsive collagen, no-downtime preference, and progressive natural-looking results. It works best on broad coverage rather than specific drop points.

When is laser appropriate?

Skin

Specific limited cases under specialist assessment. Not first-line. Not aggressive ablative.

When is 5-Year Unlimited the right choice?

Skin

Unlimited (£4,500–£4,900) suits complex cases where further refinements are likely, patients who want the most extensive aligner cover, or cases where relapse risk or retention compliance is a concern. It includes refinements as the case requires and multi-year aligner cover; full T&Cs apply. Your plan is chosen after your iTero scan and ClinCheck review.

When do I see the full effect?

Skin

Day 5–7 typically. The lip rolls outward gradually as the muscle relaxes. Full effect visible by week 1; sustained through weeks 2–6; tapers from week 6 onward; resolved by week 10–12.

When do I see results?

Skin

Hydration and glow within 7–10 days of first session. Substantive firmness and texture improvement develops between weeks 4–8 after the second session. Peak result at 8–12 weeks after course completion. Photographs at the 8-week review make the change easier to see than the mirror at home — daily-incremental improvement is hard to notice in real time.
