How Much Does Invisalign Cost in the UK? Full Price Breakdown

TL;DR

  • Invisalign in the UK is generally quoted between about £1,800 and £7,000.
  • The cost depends on the complexity of your case and the type of Invisalign (e.g. i7, Lite, Comprehensive).
  • Treatment duration and number of appointments also affect the price.
  • Costs are broadly comparable with traditional metal braces.
  • A consultation provides an accurate, personalised quote.

When it comes to the cost of Invisalign in the UK, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Prices vary based on your location, the complexity of your case, and the type of Invisalign treatment you need. To provide an overview, in the UK it is generally quoted between £1800 to £7000. Let’s break it down.

What Invisalign costs at Dental & Wellness London

The national figures below are useful for context, but this is what treatment costs at our Essex Road practice in Islington. Every case is planned and supervised by Dr Vishal Patel, and the consultation, including an iTero scan and ClinCheck preview, is free.

The right plan follows the case, not the patient's preference. Some people arrive set on Express and need Moderate to reach the result they are picturing; others ask about Unlimited when Express would do. The scan and the ClinCheck plan decide.

Invisalign Express: from £1,500

For minimal movement: slight crowding of the front teeth, small gaps, or a little relapse after braces in the teenage years. Treatment is usually a matter of months. Express is not designed for bite correction or significant rotation.

Invisalign Moderate: £3,400

For mild to moderate crowding or spacing, visible front-tooth correction and some bite adjustment. This is where many adult cases sit.

Invisalign Unlimited: £4,500–£4,900

For complex or full-arch cases: real bite correction, multiple rotations, larger crowding and treatment of both arches together, with as many aligners as the case requires. The plan includes multi-year aligner cover; full terms and conditions apply. The figure within the range depends on the complexity confirmed by your ClinCheck.

You may see older plan names elsewhere, such as "Lite", "Comprehensive" or "5-Year". We have replaced these with the three plans above. Cases once described as five-year or comprehensive usually fall within Unlimited.

Invisalign on one arch only: top or bottom teeth

Single-arch Express starts at £1,500 (up to 7 aligners); beyond that, a case is placed on a plan by how much movement it needs, not by how many arches are involved. In practice, the pattern looks like this:

  • Invisalign Express, from £1,500. Small corrections to one arch: a slightly crowded lower front, a single tooth that has drifted, a small gap, or mild relapse after braces many years ago. This is where most top or bottom teeth only cases sit.
  • Invisalign Moderate, £3,400. One arch with more to do: moderate crowding, several rotated teeth, or spacing that needs more aligners to close predictably.
  • Invisalign Unlimited, £4,500–£4,900. Rarely needed for a single arch. Our Unlimited plan is explained above. Where a case needs this level of movement, it usually involves the bite, and then both arches are treated together.

Your consultation is free and includes an iTero scan and ClinCheck preview. After it, you receive the plan, timeline and fee in writing to take home. Retainers are quoted in writing alongside the treatment plan.

Single arch Invisalign cost in Islington: dental model and instruments beside the dental chair

One arch is a sensible plan when the concern is confined to one jaw and the bite is already sound: mild crowding in the lower front, a small gap between the upper front teeth, relapse in one arch after earlier braces, or straightening one tooth before a crown or bonding. Moving one arch changes how the teeth meet the other, so where the scan suggests the bite would be thrown off, we recommend treating both arches instead.

Invisalign on both arches

The plan follows the amount and type of movement, not simply the number of arches. A dual arch Invisalign price at our practice therefore falls into one of three places:

  • Invisalign Express, £2,200. Occasionally suitable for both arches where each needs only a small correction, such as slight crowding top and bottom with a good bite.
  • Invisalign Moderate, £3,400. Where many adult dual-arch cases sit: mild to moderate crowding or spacing in both arches, visible front-tooth correction and some bite adjustment.
  • Invisalign Unlimited, £4,500–£4,900. Complex or full-arch cases: real bite correction, multiple rotations, larger crowding, or cases likely to need several refinements. Aligners are provided as the case requires, and the plan includes multi-year aligner cover; full terms and conditions apply. The figure within the range depends on the complexity confirmed by your ClinCheck.

You may see older plan names elsewhere, such as "Lite" or "Comprehensive". We have replaced these with Express, Moderate and Unlimited. Cases once described as Comprehensive usually fall within Unlimited.

Treating both arches is not double the price of one. A case is placed on one plan according to its complexity, because the scan, planning and reviews cover both arches at once.

What "Unlimited" means

Invisalign moves teeth with a series of clear, removable aligners, each worn for 20 to 22 hours a day and changed on a schedule. On simpler plans, the number of aligners is limited because the movement is limited. On the Unlimited plan, there is no fixed cap: if a complex case needs more aligners, or more than one refinement, to reach the planned finish, they are made as the case requires. The plan also includes multi-year aligner cover; full terms and conditions apply.

That is the point of the plan. Complex movement is less predictable, and a case that runs short of aligners partway through is a poor result at any price. Unlimited removes that pressure from the planning, so the decision about whether to add a refinement is clinical rather than financial. Your written plan sets out exactly what the fee covers before you commit, with retainers quoted alongside it.

Invisalign cost in London: what to ask when comparing quotes

Invisalign price London searches turn up a wide spread of "from" figures. A low headline price is only a saving if it covers the same things. When you compare any two quotes, ask:

  • Is the consultation and scan included? Ours is free, with an iTero scan and ClinCheck preview.
  • Are refinements included, and how many?
  • Are review appointments included for the whole course?
  • Is enamel shaping (IPR) included where the plan needs it?
  • What do retainers cost, and what does a replacement cost?
  • Who plans and supervises the case, and will you see the same clinician each time?

At Dental & Wellness London, Express and Moderate each include one refinement and Unlimited covers refinements as the case requires; your written plan sets out exactly what the fee covers before you commit, with retainers quoted alongside it, so you can compare like with like. We do not publish other clinics' prices, but we are happy to talk through any written quote you have been given.

Cheapest Invisalign in London: what the low prices leave out

The lowest Invisalign price in London is attached to the smallest amount of tooth movement, which is the honest reason it is low. A single-arch Express case with minor front-tooth crowding is quoted at £1,500 to £2,400 across the city; a full-arch case with bite correction is £4,000 to £5,500. If you are quoted £2,000 for a case that needs full-arch correction, something has been left out, either scope or inclusions.

Seven things to check in a "cheap Invisalign" offer

  1. Refinements excluded or capped. Refinements are extra aligners ordered when teeth have not tracked exactly as planned. They are common, not a sign of failure. Charged separately, a £2,400 headline becomes £3,200 in practice.
  2. Retainers not included. Teeth move back; that is biology. Quoted separately, add £200 to £400 to the real total.
  3. The scan charged as an add-on. The digital scan and 3D plan are part of planning, not an upsell.
  4. A very short consultation. Ten minutes is not an orthodontic assessment.
  5. No 3D plan shown before you pay. If the plan appears only after the deposit, you have committed before understanding the scope.
  6. Pay-today pressure. Aligner treatment is a nine to eighteen month commitment; there is no clinical reason to decide in the chair.
  7. Inexperience on a complex case. The risk is not overcharging; it is a case that needs fixed braces or a specialist opinion being accepted for aligners because that is what was asked for.

Ask every practice the same questions: which plan and how many aligner stages; is the scan and 3D plan included; how many refinement rounds; are retainers included and which type; how many reviews; what is the total amount payable under finance; who delivers the treatment and what is their GDC number (check it on the GDC register). Cheaper does not mean lower quality: a £2,000 Express case delivered well is good value for minor crowding, and a £5,500 Unlimited case is not better dentistry, it is more dentistry. Price tracks scope. Mail-order aligners are a different matter: the objection is not the price, it is that nobody examines your gums, bite or existing restorations before movement starts.

Invisible braces prices: clear aligners, ceramic and lingual compared

"Invisible braces" is a category, not a product. It covers three options with three price bands, and discretion and cost move together.

TypeDiscretionTypical UK price 2026
Clear aligners (Invisalign, ClearCorrect)High: barely visible, removable£1,500–£5,500
Ceramic bracesModerate: visible up close£3,000–£4,500 (single arch £2,000–£2,800)
Lingual bracesHighest: invisible from the front£5,000–£8,000 (single arch £3,500–£5,000)

Lingual braces cost the most because the brackets are usually custom-made for each tooth and placing and adjusting them takes much longer chairside. Ceramic braces are conventional fixed braces with tooth-coloured brackets; the brackets are more brittle than metal, so ask how repairs are charged. Our orthodontic work centres on Invisalign, where Dr Vishal Patel is an Invisalign Diamond II provider. Where a case is better treated with fixed appliances, ceramic braces are provided in-house and quoted in writing after assessment; we do not offer lingual braces and will refer where they are the right answer. See Invisalign at our Islington clinic for our own plans and what each includes.

Paying for Invisalign at our practice

We offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, so the fee for any of the three plans can be spread in equal monthly payments over a year. As an example, Moderate at £3,400 works out at about £283 a month over 12 months. Your written plan shows the total before you commit, and some private dental insurance policies contribute towards orthodontic treatment; we provide itemised receipts if you wish to claim.

National Price Overview

I understand that a wide range from £1800 to £7000 does not provide reassurances. The final cost of Invisalign treatment in the UK depends on a few key factors. Our own fees are set out above: Express from £1,500, Moderate £3,400 and Unlimited £4,500–£4,900.

  • The severity of your dental misalignment
  • The type of Invisalign treatment you require (Invisalign comprehensive, Invisalign lite or moderate or Invisalign i7, etc.)
  • The duration of your treatment
  • Total number of appointments

It’s not a small investment, but considering how discreet and comfortable Invisalign is, many Invisalign patients find it’s worth it for the results. The costs are also comparable with traditional metal braces; our guide to Invisalign versus braces sets out the differences.

Regional Price Variations

If you’re in London, you may have read that the prices tend to be on the higher end of the scale. I do not think this is entirely true now. I have personally looked at various practices in the UK and found a very similar price range.

The higher volume of patients in bigger cities means that the Invisalign dentist can offer cheaper prices. A bespoke specialist clinic led by a certified Invisalign provider may charge a little more, but prices are largely comparable.

No matter where you are, though, you’ll find providers of Invisalign across the UK who offer flexible pricing and payment options to help ease the financial side.

Example Breakdown for Cost of Invisalign Treatment

Basic Cases

For minor dental alignment issues, your Invisalign aligner treatment will likely fall into the Invisalign Lite or i7 category.

  • Cost: Around £1,800 - £3,000
  • Treatment time: About 6-9 months

Intermediate Cases

If you have more noticeable misalignment but not severe, this might fall under the Full treatment plan.

  • Cost: Around £3,000 - £5,000
  • Treatment time: Around 9-15 months

Complex Cases

For those with major alignment issues or bite problems, you’ll be looking at the Invisalign Full treatment.

  • Cost: £4,500 to £7,000
  • Treatment time: 12-18 months or longer

Remember, these are just average costs. Your personal Invisalign treatment cost can vary depending on the specifics of your treatment, so always get a detailed estimate during your consultation.

Additional Costs to Consider

A cheap, advertised Invisalign braces often has hidden costs. They may also charge high prices for routine dental work.

Some clinics have follow-up appointments with the dental assistant, not the dentist. This is to offer cheaper treatment. I recommend choosing a clinic where you see the certified Invisalign dentist for regular follow-ups. Dr Vishal Patel is an Invisalign Diamond II provider.

Getting Invisalign is a great choice for straightening your teeth, but it's important to know there are a few additional costs you might face along the way. Let’s break it down:

1. Consultation Fees

Most Invisalign clinics will charge a consultation fee to get the ball rolling. At Dental & Wellness, we offer a no-obligation free consultation. This fee generally covers the following:

  • An initial examination of your teeth
  • A discussion about your dental goals and treatment options
  • X-rays or digital scans to assess your needs

The consultation cost can range between £50 to £200 depending on the clinic. Some places even offer free consultations or discounted prices if you go ahead with treatment.

2. Retainers and Post-Treatment Care

Once your Invisalign treatment is complete, you’re going to need retainers to keep your teeth in their new, perfect positions. Retainers are a must because without them, your teeth can shift back over time. Here's the lowdown:

  • Cost of retainers: Typically ranges from £150 to £500
  • Type of retainer: Some patients may opt for clear plastic retainers similar to Invisalign, or the more traditional fixed wire retainers that are attached behind the teeth.

3. Follow-up Appointments

After you start your Invisalign treatment, you'll need follow-up appointments to monitor your progress.

  • How often will you need them? Usually, you’ll check in every 6-8 weeks for a quick update. Your dentist will check how your aligners are fitting and whether any adjustments need to be made.
  • What’s the cost? For each visit, you might pay between £50 to £150, depending on the clinic and your treatment stage.

Financing Options: How Does it Work?

Many dental clinics, including Dental & Wellness, offer monthly Invisalign interest-free credit to help spread the cost of Invisalign treatment. Here’s how it typically works:

  • Monthly Plans: You can pay a fixed amount each month instead of paying the full amount upfront. These plans usually range from £80 to £250 per month depending on your treatment cost and duration.
  • Interest-Free Credit: Some clinics offer interest-free options, meaning the amount you owe doesn’t increase over time. It’s just split into manageable chunks.
  • Traditional Financing: If you need more flexibility, many practices also work with third-party lenders to offer low-interest or longer-term financing options.

At Dental & Wellness, we offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, to make your Invisalign treatment easier to fit into your budget.

How Dental Practices Help with Financial Assistance

Not all dental practices are the same when it comes to this. Here's what you should know:

  • Flexible Plans: Many clinics offer a variety of plans, so you can choose one that fits your budget.
  • Payment Structure: Most practices will ask for an initial deposit (often between £500 to £1,000), followed by monthly payments.
  • Consultation: Some clinics, including ours, provide free consultations where we discuss all your payment options before you commit to anything.

Example

Say your treatment is our Moderate plan at £3,400. With 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, that is about £283 a month with no interest added. Other clinics structure finance differently, often with a deposit or a longer term that carries interest, so compare the total payable rather than the monthly figure.

What is the Cheapest It Can Be?

So, you're asking, "What is the cheapest it can be?" when it comes to Invisalign treatment in the UK.

It’s a fair question, and let me be real with you: the cheapest option might not always be the best one. Sure, you might find a quote well below £1,500. But here's the thing: the lowest price often comes with hidden costs. Before we dive deeper into pricing, let’s break it down:

  • The cheapest genuine Invisalign treatment generally starts at around £1,500 to £2,000 for a simple case; ours is from £1,500 for a single arch.
  • However, if you see a price that’s lower than that, ask yourself, "What’s missing?"

Here’s why you might want to think twice before grabbing the cheapest deal.

If you're looking for cheaper, don't try Invisalign at home, and check out other options instead. Maybe braces can be a good alternative.

Why the Cheapest Might Not Be the Best

Cheap prices often come with limited services or hidden charges. Let’s be honest: if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

  • Limited consultation: Some clinics offer the lowest prices but skimp on initial consultations or may charge extra for the first meeting.
  • Less time: The cheapest treatment may only cover the basics. If your case requires more adjustments, you’ll likely pay more later on.
  • No aftercare: After your treatment, you'll need retainers and post-treatment checkups. Low-cost options might not include these essentials

What Can You Expect with the Cheapest Option?

If you opt for the cheapest Invisalign option, here’s what you may encounter:

  1. Minimal Treatment: The cheapest options work best for minor alignment issues. More complex cases will likely push the price higher.
  2. Fewer Appointments: Some clinics may limit follow-up appointments to reduce costs, but this could impact your treatment progress.
  3. Additional Costs for Retainers: You may need to pay an extra £100 - £400 for retainers, which may not be included in the base price.

Final Thoughts

Invisalign treatment costs in the UK range from £1,800 to £7,000, depending on case complexity and treatment duration. While pricier than traditional braces, Invisalign offers comfort, discretion, and effective results. Flexible payment and financing options help make treatment more affordable, so you can invest in your smile with peace of mind.

FAQs

How Much Is 6 Months of Treatment?

A 6-month Invisalign treatment typically ranges between £2,000 and £3,500:

  • Lower-end cost: Simple cases (around £2,000)
  • Higher-end cost: Complex cases needing more adjustments (up to £3,500)

Additional costs may include:

  • Retainers: £100 - £400
  • Follow-up appointments: These might be included or could incur extra fees—check with your clinic.

How Much Is It If You Pay Monthly?

Monthly payments generally range between £80 - £150, depending on:

  • Total treatment cost (from £2,000 - £3,500)
  • Treatment length (longer treatments may result in lower monthly payments)
  • Your payment option (some clinics offer interest-free or low-interest financing)

At our practice, 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, spreads Express (from £1,500) at about £125 a month and Moderate (£3,400) at about £283 a month.

Is There Any Way to Get Free Invisalign?

While completely free Invisalign is rare, opportunities to lower costs exist through:

  • Contests
  • Insurance
  • Referral programmes
  • Student offers

Consider financing options to spread the cost over time.

Will the NHS Pay for It?

In short: No, unless there's a significant medical need. NHS typically covers treatments deemed medically necessary, while Invisalign is usually categorised as cosmetic.

  1. NHS Orthodontics: Free or subsidised for children with severe dental issues like malocclusions.
  2. NHS and Invisalign: Rarely covers it, unless for severe dental conditions affecting function and appearance. Check with your dentist for case-by-case availability.
  3. Private Treatment: Most patients choose private treatment due to greater flexibility.

What Makes It Expensive?

Invisalign is costly due to the following:

  1. Customisation: Aligners are custom-made from detailed 3D scans of your teeth, requiring skilled professionals.
  2. Advanced Technology: 3D imaging and CAD/CAM technology ensure precise results and comfort, but come with a price.
  3. Expertise of Your Dentist: The experience of your dentist ensures optimal results and effective treatment.
  4. Long-Term Care: Treatment spans several months or years, requiring ongoing care and adjustments.
  5. Comfort and Discreetness: Clear, removable aligners offer comfort and a discreet treatment experience.
  6. Fewer Appointments: Typically, fewer visits to the dentist, saving you time off work or school.
  7. Comprehensive Care: The cost covers consultations, check-ups, post-treatment care, and potential aligner replacements.

Is £6,000 Too Much for Invisalign?

It’s about what you value. At £6,000, you're paying for:

  • Custom aligners
  • Cutting-edge technology
  • Expertise and personalised care

Many find it worthwhile, considering comfort, results, and convenience.

Can I Get It on a Payment Plan?

Yes. A lot of clinics offer payment plans; at Dental & Wellness we offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status. Here’s how it works:

  • Spread the cost over monthly payments.
  • Some plans are interest-free, so you don’t have to worry about extra charges.
  • If you're concerned about the upfront cost, payment plans can make it much more manageable.

Are There Cheaper Alternatives?

Of course, there are cheaper options like traditional braces or other clear aligner systems that aren’t exactly like Invisalign. But here’s the kicker:

  • With Invisalign, you’re getting comfort, discretion, and flexibility that other options don’t offer.
  • The cost may be a bit higher, but for many, it’s well worth it.

Quick example:

  • If you’re dealing with crooked teeth but want something easy to remove for eating or brushing, Invisalign aligners are a no-brainer.

What is the cheapest Invisalign option in London?

Invisalign Express for a single arch with minor crowding, typically £1,500 to £2,400. Whether it is suitable is a clinical question, not a budget one; at our practice single-arch Express starts at £1,500.

How much do invisible braces cost in the UK?

Between £1,500 and £8,000 in 2026, depending on type: clear aligners £1,500–£5,500, ceramic braces £3,000–£4,500, lingual braces £5,000–£8,000.

Does DWL provide lingual braces?

No. We focus on Invisalign and provide ceramic braces where fixed appliances are the better choice; we refer for lingual braces.
