MBCT combines cognitive therapy with mindfulness meditation practices. Strong evidence base for relapse prevention in recurrent depression and ongoing anxiety management.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) at Dental Wellness London is an evidence-based 8-week structured programme combining cognitive therapy techniques with mindfulness meditation practices. Originally developed for relapse prevention in recurrent depression, MBCT has strong evidence for ongoing anxiety management, stress response, and emotional regulation work. Delivered as an 8-week group programme (weekly 2-hour sessions plus daily home practice) or as individual sessions. From £40 per session in group format; individual sessions £95.

MBCT is not primary acute care for severe depression or active suicidal ideation. If you are in crisis, contact your GP, NHS 111, or the Samaritans (116 123). We refer patients needing acute mental-health care to appropriate primary care rather than offering MBCT as a substitute.
MBCT suits adults with recurrent depression seeking relapse prevention — the evidence base is strongest here — as well as adults with ongoing anxiety, stress patterns, or emotional regulation challenges seeking an evidence-based, mindfulness-integrated approach. It asks for an 8-week multi-hour weekly commitment plus daily home practice, since programme effectiveness depends on this. It suits patients who have completed acute mental health treatment and are ready for sustained-practice work. MBCT is not primary acute care for severe depression or active suicidal ideation — we refer for appropriate primary care in those cases. Where difficulty is rooted in trauma, our trauma therapy is usually the more suitable starting point.
The programme opens with a complimentary 20-minute introduction call, followed by a 30-minute pre-programme orientation to confirm fit and readiness. The 8-week programme itself runs as weekly 2-hour group sessions (or 1-hour individual sessions if preferred), with daily home practice — typically 30-45 minutes including meditation and reflection exercises. Programme materials and audio recordings are provided, and post-programme drop-in sessions are available for continued practice.
Outcomes are well-documented in published research: meaningful reduction in depression relapse rates for patients with recurrent depression, improvement in anxiety management, and sustained benefit for those who maintain personal practice after the programme ends. Some people also value working through the body alongside it, as in body psychotherapy.
