ONDA microwave body contouring for stubborn pockets of fat, at our Islington clinic. No needles, no surgery and no downtime.
Non-surgical fat removal at Dental & Wellness London, Islington uses ONDA, which heats fat cells with microwave energy so the body clears them over the following weeks. It suits adults near a stable, healthy weight with stubborn fat on the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms or back. It is not a weight-loss treatment. Most people have 3 to 6 sessions; results develop over 8 to 12 weeks. £300 per session; a course of four is £1,020 (15% off), including an online personal training session.

Non-surgical fat removal at our Islington clinic uses ONDA, a body contouring system that uses microwave energy to heat fat cells beneath the skin. Heated fat cells break down and are cleared by the body over the following weeks, so the treated area becomes gradually slimmer. The skin surface is cooled throughout, and there are no needles, incisions or anaesthetic.
ONDA is for pockets of fat that stay put despite a steady diet and regular exercise: the lower abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, upper arms and back. It is not a weight-loss treatment, and it will not change the number on the scale in any meaningful way.
The principle is straightforward. Fat cells are more sensitive to heat than the skin and muscle around them. ONDA delivers microwave energy through a handpiece that is moved over the area, concentrating the heat in the fat layer while a cooling system protects the surface of the skin. Fat cells that are damaged in this way are not replaced; the body breaks them down and clears them through its normal processes. That is why the change is gradual, and why the final result of a course is judged some weeks after the last session rather than on the day.
Because the treatment works on the area treated, it is best thought of as a contouring tool. It refines shape in a defined area. It does not reduce overall body fat, and it does not replace the habits that keep weight stable.
People searching for non-surgical fat removal in London are usually looking for one of three things: a flatter lower tummy, a less prominent "love handle" over the flanks, or a smoother line to the thighs or upper arms. ONDA can help with each of these when the fat is localised and pinchable.
It is less suited to some common concerns, and it is better to know that before you book:
We also take care with anyone who has a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, active skin infection or broken skin over the area, reduced sensation in the area, or a medical history that raises a question we cannot answer. In those cases we may ask you to speak to your GP first, or advise against treatment altogether. Realistic expectations matter as much as anatomy: the best outcomes come from people who want a modest, well-defined improvement and who understand that results vary from person to person.
Liposuction removes more fat in one procedure, but it is surgery, with anaesthetic, recovery time and surgical risk. ONDA removes less per session and works over a course, with no downtime. For many people with a modest, well-defined area, ONDA is the proportionate choice. If your goals need surgery, we will tell you honestly. You can also compare ONDA and CoolSculpting.
Many people searching for non-surgical fat reduction have CoolSculpting in mind, because it is the best-known name. Our page on a CoolSculpting alternative explains how ONDA fits. We do not offer CoolSculpting. It freezes fat, while ONDA heats it, and both are established, non-surgical approaches. We chose ONDA for our clinic, and the comparison page sets out the differences factually.
For very small areas, particularly fat under the chin or along the jawline, fat dissolving injections with Aqualyx can be a better fit than a device. Aqualyx is injected directly into the fat layer, where it breaks down the walls of fat cells so the body can clear them. It suits small, precise pockets; ONDA suits larger, flatter areas such as the abdomen and flanks. Some people benefit from both, used in different areas. At consultation we will explain which approach suits the area you have in mind, and why. Our page on double chin treatment covers that area in more detail.
Every course begins with a consultation with Dr Vishal Patel. We ask about your health, any medication, previous treatments and how your weight has changed over time. We then look at the area itself: how much fat is pinchable, how the skin behaves, and whether the shape you are unhappy with is mostly fat, mostly skin, or a combination.
We will explain what ONDA can realistically achieve for you, how many sessions are likely, and what the course will cost. With your consent, we take standardised photographs so progress can be compared fairly later. If ONDA is not the right answer, we will tell you, and suggest what is. The skin and aesthetic consultation is £65, redeemable in full against treatment.
Each session takes around 30 to 45 minutes per area. You feel deep warmth and a cooling sensation on the skin. Mild redness or tenderness can last a day or two, and you can go back to normal activity straight away.
On the day, the area is cleaned and marked, and a contact medium is applied. The handpiece is then moved steadily across the area in a set pattern. We check in with you throughout, and settings can be adjusted if the warmth becomes uncomfortable. Most people describe the sensation as similar to a hot stone massage that occasionally becomes more intense for a moment. There is nothing to recover from afterwards; many patients come in at lunchtime or on the way home from work.
Most courses involve 3 to 6 sessions per area, spaced a few weeks apart. The exact number depends on the area, how much fat is present and how you respond. Change is gradual, and results usually develop over 8 to 12 weeks after a session as the body clears the treated fat cells. We review your photographs partway through the course and after it, so decisions about further sessions are based on what has actually changed.
Fat cells that have been cleared do not return, but the remaining fat cells in any area can still enlarge if weight increases. Keeping your weight stable is what protects the result.
ONDA is a low-downtime treatment, but no treatment is without risk. The common effects are temporary: redness, warmth, tenderness and occasionally mild swelling or bruising in the treated area. Less commonly, people notice a short period of altered sensation or small firm areas under the skin, which usually settle. Burns are rare.
We reduce these risks with a careful medical history, by checking the area before every session, by using appropriate settings for your tissue, and by keeping the handpiece moving with continuous surface cooling. Treatment is planned and overseen by Dr Vishal Patel, who is trained by Lynton Lasers in the use of ONDA.
The total cost of a course depends on how many areas are treated and how many sessions each needs. We will give you a written plan with the full cost before you commit to anything.
Where it helps, ONDA can be combined with personal training in the same building. Treatment reduces fat in a defined area; training builds the muscle tone and habits that help the result hold. For people who are already working towards a goal, combining the two in one place keeps the plan coherent and practical. A course of four ONDA sessions is £1,020, 15% off the per-session price, and includes an online personal training session.
Dr Vishal Patel is Lynton Lasers trained, including ONDA, and oversees every body plan at the clinic. He has around 20 years in dentistry and ten years in facial aesthetics, and his training includes the International Fellowship in Advanced Aesthetic Science. Our approach is consultation-first: we would rather recommend less, or nothing, than a course that will not give you what you are hoping for.

It depends on the area and your skin. We use ONDA, which heats fat with microwave energy while cooling the skin, and suits well-defined pockets of stubborn fat. We assess whether it is right for you, and we will tell you if another approach would serve you better.
Yes, in modest amounts. ONDA reduces fat in a treated area over a course of sessions, with no needles, incisions or downtime. It removes less than liposuction, so it suits people near a healthy weight with a specific area to refine.
Most people have 3 to 6 sessions per area, a few weeks apart. We recommend a number at consultation based on the area and how much change you want.
No. It reshapes localised areas rather than reducing overall weight. If weight loss is the goal, diet, activity and your GP are the right starting point. Our personal trainer and nutritional therapist can help alongside.
At Dental & Wellness London, Islington, ONDA is £300 per session, or £1,020 for a course of four (15% off) including an online personal training session. A body consultation is £65, redeemable in full against treatment, and your full plan is quoted in writing before you start.
It can if skin elasticity is already reduced. We assess this at consultation and, where it would help, include skin tightening in the plan so the result looks smooth.
