Gentle heat beneath the skin surface to stimulate collagen and gradually firm mild laxity, with little or no downtime.
Laser skin tightening gently heats the deeper skin to stimulate new collagen, gradually firming mild laxity on the face, neck, décolletage and body, with no peeling and little downtime. Most people have 4 to 6 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart. At Dental & Wellness London, Islington, treatment is on Lynton technology from £195 per session, with a free patch test.

Laser skin tightening gently heats the deeper layers of the skin while protecting the surface. The heat stimulates new collagen and elastin over the following weeks and months, so skin gradually becomes firmer and smoother. Because the surface is not broken, there is no peeling and little or no downtime. At our Islington clinic, treatment is on Lynton technology.
Collagen and elastin are the proteins that give skin its structure and spring. From our mid-twenties we make less of both each year, and sun exposure, smoking, stress and weight change speed that decline. The result is skin that feels thinner, creases more easily and begins to soften along the jawline and neck. Controlled heat in the deeper layers prompts the skin to repair and renew that support. The change is gradual by design: it reflects your own skin rebuilding, rather than anything being added or lifted.
Laser tightening tends to suit people in their thirties, forties and fifties who are noticing the first softening of the lower face or neck, and who would rather support their skin early than wait for a larger intervention later. It also suits those who cannot take time away from work or family, since most people go straight back to their day.
It is not a treatment for deep folds, heavy jowls or loose skin after significant weight loss. In those situations the honest answer is that a laser will not deliver the change you are hoping for, and we will tell you so.
Many people treat the face and neck together, because the two age as one and a change in one can make the other more noticeable. We agree the areas with you at consultation.
We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, broken or irritated skin, or over areas with a recent tan. We take particular care with anyone who has a pacemaker or other implanted device, metal implants in the treatment area, a history of poor healing, or a condition or medicine that affects the skin’s response to heat or light. If anything about your skin suggests it needs a medical opinion first, we will refer you to your GP or a dermatologist.
Laser tightening starts with a skin consultation with Dr Vishal Patel. We look at the quality and thickness of your skin, the pattern of laxity, your facial structure and the areas that concern you most. Skin laxity is rarely just a skin problem: changes in the deeper tissues and in facial volume play a part, and a clear assessment of facial anatomy helps us decide whether laser tightening is the right tool or one part of a broader plan. For a comparison of energy-based options, see HIFU vs radiofrequency vs microwave.
We explain what you can reasonably expect, how many sessions are likely, and whether a different treatment would serve you better. Results vary, and we would rather set modest expectations that are met than promise more than heat can deliver. The skin consultation costs £65 and is redeemable in full against treatment.
A session takes 30 to 45 minutes and feels warm. Skin may look pink for a few hours. Most people have 4 to 6 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, and improvement continues for several months after the course. It combines well with Profhilo for hydration.
We cleanse the skin, remove make-up and take photographs for comparison. You wear protective eyewear. The handpiece is moved steadily over the area, building heat gradually in the deeper layers while the surface is protected. Most people describe a sensation of deep warmth, sometimes with brief moments of more intense heat; we adjust the pace as we go. There is no numbing and no recovery period to plan for in most cases.
Some people notice a subtle freshness soon after a session, partly from short-term tightening of existing collagen. The more lasting change follows as new collagen forms. Improvement continues for several months after the course, so we review your progress against your starting photographs once your skin has had time to respond rather than judging it session by session. How long results last depends on your age, skin quality, sun protection and lifestyle; the skin continues to age, and some people choose occasional maintenance sessions.
For mild laxity, it can give a worthwhile, gradual improvement with no downtime. It will not match a surgical lift, and we will be honest if your skin needs more than a laser can offer.
The people who are most satisfied are usually those who wanted their skin to look and feel a little firmer and fresher, not those who wanted their face to look different. If you are hoping for a dramatic lift, laser tightening is likely to disappoint, and we would rather discuss a more suitable option with you. Our guide to skin tightening vs thread lifts explains the difference.
Laser tightening is low in downtime, but it is still a heat-based treatment. Possible effects include temporary redness and swelling, and, uncommonly, blistering, burns or pigment change, which are more likely in darker or tanned skin. We reduce these risks by assessing your skin type, choosing settings carefully, starting conservatively, moving the handpiece continuously, checking your comfort throughout and declining to treat tanned or compromised skin. Pigment conditions such as melasma need particular care.
Laser lift and tighten is from £195 per session. Your price depends on the area treated, and we confirm the full cost of a course at consultation before anything is booked. The £65 skin consultation is redeemable in full against treatment.

For mild to moderate laxity, yes, gradually over a course. It will not match a surgical lift for significant laxity.

Very little. Skin may look pink for a few hours, and most people carry on as normal.
