Quick answer — typical UK pricing by type
"Invisible braces" is a category, not a product — it covers three quite different invisible brace options with three quite different price bands. The figures below are typical UK ranges for 2026, market guidance rather than quotes.
TypeDiscretionTypical UK price 2026Clear aligners (Invisalign, ClearCorrect)High — barely visible, removable for photos£1,800–£5,500Ceramic bracesModerate — visible up close£3,000–£4,500Lingual bracesHighest — invisible from the front£5,000–£8,000
Discretion and cost move together, but so does complexity. The most expensive option is not automatically the best one for your case.
Clear aligner prices
Clear aligners are the most commonly chosen invisible option in the UK, tiered by how much movement is planned — our Invisalign cost page sets out our own plans.
TierSuitable forTypical UK price 2026Short / express aligner plansMinor front-tooth crowding or relapse, single arch£1,800–£2,400Mild-case aligner plansMild crowding or spacing£2,500–£3,500Moderate aligner plansModerate crowding, limited bite correction£3,200–£4,500Full-arch aligner plansFull-arch correction, both arches, bite work£4,000–£5,500
Alternative systems such as ClearCorrect generally sit slightly below the equivalent Invisalign tier. Mail-order aligner companies advertise lower again, typically £1,200–£2,000, but that pricing reflects the absence of in-person examination and clinical supervision rather than a more efficient treatment.

Ceramic brace prices
Ceramic braces are conventional fixed braces with tooth-coloured brackets, fixed to the front of the teeth — discreet rather than invisible, suiting cases where fixed appliances give better control than removable trays.
Single arch (usually upper): typically £2,000–£2,800. Both arches: typically £3,000–£4,500. Ceramic brackets are more brittle than metal and wires can stain over long treatment, so practical cost sometimes includes a bracket repair or two — ask how repairs are charged before starting.
Lingual brace prices
Lingual braces bond to the inner surfaces of teeth, so nothing is visible from the front — the only genuinely invisible fixed option, and the most expensive because brackets are usually custom-made for each tooth, laboratory work is more involved, and placing and adjusting takes considerably longer chairside.
Typical UK price 2026: £5,000–£8,000 for both arches. Single-arch lingual, sometimes combined with clear aligners on the lower arch, generally runs £3,500–£5,000. Most people find speech and tongue comfort settle within two to four weeks.

What affects the price — five factors
1. Case complexity. The dominant factor — more movement means more aligners or more months in fixed appliances.
2. Appliance type. The same case can vary by thousands depending on which appliance is used.
3. Clinic location. City centres carry higher overheads — expect a few hundred pounds, not thousands, between comparable practices.
4. Clinician experience and provider tier. Higher-volume providers often charge a modest premium and tend to plan cases needing fewer course corrections.
5. Inclusions. Two quotes for identical treatment can differ by £800 purely on what's bundled in — the factor most patients overlook.
What honest pricing includes
A reliable quote covers the whole arc of treatment: initial consultation and suitability assessment; digital 3D scan and treatment records; the written plan and simulation; all aligners or all brackets, wires and adjustments; all scheduled review appointments; refinements (at our clinic, one refinement is included on Express and Moderate, and on Unlimited refinements are made as the case requires); and a clear written quote for retainers.
What is often excluded — watch-outs
Refinements charged per round; retainers quoted separately at £200–£400 (not optional if you want the result to hold); the 3D scan billed as an add-on; review appointments beyond a fixed number; bracket repairs on fixed appliances; preparatory dentistry like gum treatment or extractions. None of these are unreasonable to charge for — what matters is they appear in writing before you commit.

Orthodontic consultations, including Invisalign, are free (iTero scan and ClinCheck). Invisalign Express £2,200 · Moderate £3,400 · Unlimited £4,500–£4,900. Retainers are quoted in writing with the treatment plan.
Our orthodontic work centres on Invisalign and clear-aligner systems, where Dr Vee Patel is an Invisalign Diamond II provider. Where a case would be better treated with fixed appliances, tooth-coloured ceramic braces are provided in-house and quoted in writing after assessment; lingual braces are not offered here, so we refer where they are the right answer. The ceramic and lingual figures above are general UK market guidance rather than our own fees.
FAQs
How much do invisible braces cost in the UK?
Between £1,800 and £8,000 in 2026, depending entirely on type: clear aligners £1,800–£5,500, ceramic braces £3,000–£4,500, lingual braces £5,000–£8,000.
Which invisible brace is cheapest?
Clear aligners at the lowest tier, around £1,800–£2,400 for a single arch with minor crowding — a clinical question rather than a budget one.
Why are lingual braces so expensive?
Brackets are usually custom-made for each tooth, laboratory work is more involved, and placement takes substantially longer chairside, requiring specific additional training.
Are clear aligners as effective as fixed braces?
For a wide range of cases, yes. Fixed appliances still give better control for significant rotations, large vertical corrections, and some bite work — see clear aligners vs fixed braces.
Do prices include retainers?
Not always — one of the most common exclusions. At our practice, retainers are quoted in writing with your treatment plan.
Are refinements charged separately?
At some practices, yes. Refinements are a normal part of aligner treatment, not a sign anything's gone wrong. What each of our plans includes is set out in writing before you start; the Unlimited plan includes multi-year aligner cover (full terms and conditions apply).
Can I pay monthly?
Yes — 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status.
Does DWL provide lingual braces?
No. Lingual braces are not offered here; where they are the right answer we refer. Tooth-coloured ceramic fixed braces are provided in-house and quoted in writing after assessment.
