The actual cost range in London 2026

Invisalign is not one product with one price — it's a family of treatment tiers, and the tier you need is decided by how far your teeth have to move, not by which clinic you walk into. The figures below are typical London market ranges for 2026, gathered from published practice pricing across the city — ranges, not quotes.

Invisalign tierTypical caseTypical London price 2026Invisalign i7Minor front-tooth crowding or relapse, single arch£1,800–£2,400Invisalign LiteMild crowding or spacing, limited movement£2,500–£3,500Invisalign ModerateModerate crowding, some bite correction£3,200–£4,500Invisalign ComprehensiveFull-arch correction, bite work, both arches£4,000–£5,500Comprehensive (complex/Diamond+)Severe crowding, bite or airway considerations£4,500–£6,000

The lowest number in London is attached to the smallest amount of tooth movement, which is the honest reason it's low. If you're quoted £2,000 for a case that genuinely needs full-arch correction, something has been left out — either scope or inclusions. Our own fees, and what they cover, are set out on our page for Invisalign at our Islington clinic.

Why prices vary — the five things that actually move the number

1. Case complexity. The dominant factor. Aligner count drives laboratory cost, appointment count, and treatment duration. When patients collect a £1,900 quote and a £4,800 quote for what they assume is the same treatment, the difference is usually two clinicians assessing the case differently, not one being generous and one greedy.

2. Clinic location and overhead. Central London rents land in the fee — a genuine but smaller variable, typically a few hundred pounds across comparable cases, not thousands.

3. Provider experience and tier. Higher Invisalign provider tiers reflect case volume. Experience commands a modest premium and tends to reduce course corrections along the way.

4. Finance terms. A headline monthly figure is not a price — always ask for the total amount payable, not the monthly figure.

5. What is included. The single largest source of quote-to-quote confusion — two quotes for the same treatment can differ by £800 purely because one includes refinements and retainers and the other doesn't.

Red flags in "cheap Invisalign" offers — seven things to check

1. Refinements excluded or capped. Refinements are additional aligners ordered when teeth haven't tracked exactly as planned — common, not a sign of failure. If charged separately, a £2,400 headline can become £3,200 in practice.

2. Retainers not included. Teeth move back — that's biology. If retainers are quoted separately, add £200–£400 to the real total.

3. The iTero scan charged as an add-on. The digital scan and 3D simulation are part of planning, not an upsell.

4. A very short consultation. Ten minutes is not an orthodontic assessment.

5. No 3D treatment plan shown before you pay. If the plan only appears after the deposit, you've committed before understanding the scope.

6. Pay-upfront pressure or same-day discount. Orthodontics is a nine-to-eighteen-month commitment; there's no clinical reason a decision must be made in the chair today.

7. Provider inexperience on a complex case. The risk isn't overcharging — it's a case needing fixed appliances rather than clear aligners or a specialist opinion being accepted for aligners because that's what was asked for, which is where the cheap option stops being cheap.

How to compare three quotes properly

Ask every practice the same questions: which Invisalign tier and how many aligner stages; is the iTero scan and 3D plan included; how many refinement rounds are included; are retainers included and which type; how many review appointments are included; what's the total amount payable under finance; who's delivering treatment and what's their GDC number. You can check any dentist's registration at the GDC register.

Does cheaper mean lower quality?

Not necessarily. A £2,000 i7 case delivered well is good value for minor crowding. A £5,500 comprehensive case isn't better dentistry — it's more dentistry, because more had to be moved. Price tracks scope. Where price genuinely signals something is at the extremes: a quote well below the market floor for a case plainly requiring full-arch correction means scope has been understated or inclusions stripped.

The same caution applies to mail-order aligner companies — the objection isn't the price point, it's that nobody examines your gums, bite, or existing restorations before movement starts, and no clinician is in the room when something doesn't track.

Finance options

Most London practices offer treatment finance. Typical monthly repayments fall between £75 and £200 depending on treatment cost, deposit and term. At DWL, 0% APR finance over 12 months is available via Tabeo, subject to status.

Transparent, no hidden fees. Every figure includes the digital scan, 3D treatment plan, all aligners, all scheduled reviews, and refinements: one refinement is included on Express and Moderate, and on Unlimited refinements are made as the case requires. Retainers are quoted in writing alongside your treatment plan.

Not included: any general dentistry needed before orthodontics can safely begin — gum treatment, replacement of failing fillings, or extractions where clinically indicated. We identify these at consultation and quote them separately.

We say what works and don't promise what's not deliverable. If a case would be better served by fixed braces or a specialist opinion, we'll tell you at the consultation.

Why a Diamond II provider matters, even on the cheaper tiers

Dr Vee Patel is an Invisalign Diamond II provider, among the top 1% of UK providers by case volume. Case selection — deciding which cases aligners will finish properly — comes from having planned a large number of cases. Fewer refinements — a plan built with an accurate sense of how teeth actually move needs fewer rounds of additional aligners. Right-sizing the tier — experience means being comfortable saying a case needs i7 rather than Lite, preventing over-prescribing that quietly inflates a fee. The long-term smile view — planning with an eye on the bite, tooth wear, and how the result holds in ten years.

FAQs

What's the cheapest Invisalign option in London?

Invisalign i7, typically £1,800–£2,400 for a single arch with minor crowding — only suitable for small movements, a clinical question not a budget one.

Why do quotes vary so much?

Mostly because clinicians assess the case differently and quote for different tiers, with inclusions differing too.

Is cheap Invisalign safe?

Aligners are the same product regardless of price. The variable is the clinician planning and supervising treatment.

Are refinements usually included?

Not always — it is the most common hidden cost, so ask how many rounds are included. At our clinic, one refinement is included on Express and Moderate, and on Unlimited refinements are made as the case requires.

Do I pay for retainers separately?

At many practices, yes. At ours, retainers are quoted in writing with your treatment plan, so the full figure is clear before you commit.

Can I get 0% APR finance?

Yes. We offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status.

How much does Invisalign cost at DWL?

Invisalign Express is £2,200, Moderate £3,400 and Unlimited £4,500–£4,900. The consultation, including the iTero scan and ClinCheck plan, is free.

Are mail-order aligners cheaper?

Headline prices are usually lower, but there's no clinical supervision — no in-person examination and no clinician monitoring progress.
