Neck ageing rarely responds to a single intervention. We use a combined approach — muscle-relaxing for platysmal banding, skin boosters for texture, laser for tone, threads where appropriate. Tailored protocol per patient.
Neck rejuvenation combines treatments for lines, vertical bands, loose skin, crepey texture and sun damage. At Dental & Wellness London, Islington, Dr Vishal Patel plans a combination of skin boosters (from £250; Profhilo £350), laser skin tightening (from £195), anti-wrinkle treatment for neck bands (£300) and, where needed, a thread lift (PDO threads from £600 for a single area; the Korean V Lift mono-thread lift from £1,600). Consultation £65, redeemable.

The neck often shows age earlier than the face, but it is rarely one problem. Horizontal lines, vertical bands, loose skin, crepey texture and sun damage each need a different approach. Neck rejuvenation at our Islington clinic is a combined plan, built around what your neck actually needs.
No treatment stops ageing, and none can turn back the clock on the neck entirely. What well-chosen treatment can do is improve skin quality, soften lines and bands, firm mild laxity and even out sun damage, so that the neck sits more comfortably with the face. Results vary, and they develop gradually. We would rather set realistic expectations at the start than promise a change we cannot deliver.
The skin of the neck is thinner than the skin of the face, with fewer oil glands and less underlying support. It moves constantly, it is often missed when sunscreen is applied, and many of us spend hours each day looking down at phones and laptops. Over time this shows in several distinct ways:
Most people have more than one of these. That is why a single treatment rarely gives the result people hope for, and why we plan neck treatment as a combination.
Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment that spreads through the skin to improve hydration and quality. On the neck it is used for crepey texture and early softening. It is not a filler and does not add volume or change shape. It is usually given as two sessions about a month apart. Other skin boosters, including polynucleotides, can be used where skin is particularly thin or tired. A PRP facial is another option for skin quality. These are prescription treatments, given only after a consultation and prescribed and administered by Dr Vishal Patel.
Laser tightening uses gentle heat to stimulate collagen in the deeper layers of the skin. It suits mild softening under the jaw and down the neck. There is usually little or no downtime, and the change builds gradually over a course of sessions. Our comparison of HIFU vs radiofrequency vs microwave covers the other energy-based options.
Prominent vertical bands are caused by the platysma muscle. Carefully placed anti-wrinkle treatment can relax these bands and, in suitable patients, slightly sharpen the jawline. This approach is sometimes called a Nefertiti lift. It works on the muscle, not the skin, so it helps bands rather than loose or crepey skin. It is a prescription treatment, given only after consultation, and requires a detailed knowledge of neck anatomy.
Where there is more laxity along the jawline and upper neck, a thread lift can provide a degree of lift that skin treatments cannot. We offer PDO thread lifts (from £600 for a single area) and the Korean V Lift, a mono-thread lift (from £1,600). Dissolvable threads are placed beneath the skin to reposition soft tissue and stimulate collagen around them. It is more involved than the other options and is discussed in detail at consultation. Our guide to skin tightening vs thread lifts sets out the differences.
Intense pulsed light targets brown pigmentation and visible redness. The sides of the neck and the upper chest are common areas for both, and treating them alongside the face helps the skin tone match. A patch test comes first.
Where a small pocket of fat under the chin is part of the picture, fat dissolving injections with Aqualyx can refine the angle between jaw and neck. We will tell you whether the fullness is fat, loose skin, or both, because each needs a different treatment.
Mild to moderate laxity can improve with laser tightening, skin boosters or a thread lift. Significant loose skin is best treated surgically, and we will tell you honestly if that is the case.
A useful rule of thumb is that non-surgical neck tightening improves the quality and firmness of skin that is still reasonably well supported. Where the skin hangs in folds, or the underlying muscle has separated, no injectable, laser or thread will replicate a surgical neck lift. Recognising that early saves time and money.
Neck treatment suits adults with early to moderate changes who want a gradual, natural-looking improvement and are comfortable with a course of treatment. It is less suitable where laxity is marked, where expectations are for a surgical result, or where a skin condition needs medical treatment first.
We do not give injectable treatments during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, or with certain medical conditions and medicines, which we check at consultation. If anything in your history raises a question, we may ask you to speak to your GP first.
Every neck rejuvenation plan begins with a consultation with Dr Vishal Patel. We ask about your health, medication, previous treatments and what bothers you most. We then examine the neck at rest and in movement, looking at skin thickness, lines, bands, laxity, pigmentation and the jawline, and how the neck relates to the lower face. With your consent, we take standardised photographs.
You leave with a clear plan: which treatments we recommend, in what order, over what timescale, and at what cost. If surgery would serve you better, we will say so. The skin and aesthetic consultation is £65, redeemable in full against treatment.
Because most plans combine treatments, the total depends on what your neck needs. You will receive a written plan with the full cost before you commit to anything.
Treatment works best alongside simple daily habits. Apply sunscreen to the neck and chest as well as the face, every day. Extend your skincare routine down the neck. Where it helps, we can recommend medical-grade skincare such as NeoStrata. Being aware of how often you look down at a screen also helps. These steps will not replace treatment, but they help protect the result.

It depends on what is causing the change: skin boosters for crepey skin, laser tightening for mild laxity, anti-wrinkle treatment for vertical bands, or a thread lift for more lift. Most people benefit from a combination.
Mild to moderate laxity can improve with laser tightening, skin boosters or a thread lift. Significant loose skin is best treated surgically.
It can soften prominent vertical neck bands and give a subtly smoother jawline, but it does not tighten loose skin.
It depends on your plan. Skin boosters are from £250 (Profhilo £350), laser tightening from £195 per session, neck band treatment £300, and a thread lift (PDO threads from £600 for a single area; the Korean V Lift mono-thread lift is £1,600). Consultation £65, redeemable.
