Whitening, bonding, veneers and aligners, planned by a dentist with a Masters in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry. We design for how your smile will look in years to come.
Cosmetic dentistry at Dental & Wellness London in Islington covers whitening, composite bonding, veneers and Invisalign, led by Dr Vishal Patel, MSc Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry. We change the least necessary, in a planned sequence. Whitening is £450, bonding from £175 per tooth and porcelain veneers from £750 per tooth. Treatment takes from one visit to several months.

Cosmetic dentistry is the branch of dentistry concerned with how teeth and smiles look, carried out in a way that keeps them healthy and working well. It covers treatments such as teeth whitening, composite bonding, veneers, aligner orthodontics and gum reshaping. At Dental & Wellness London, cosmetic dentistry is led by Dr Vishal Patel, who holds a Masters in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry from Manchester and has around 20 years in practice.
Our approach is simple to describe and takes discipline to follow: change the least necessary to reach a result that suits your face, and design for how your smile will look in ten or fifteen years, not just next month. This page sets out the cosmetic dental treatments we offer, how they compare, what they cost in London, and how we decide which, if any, is right for you.
Cosmetic dentistry changes one or more of four things: the colour of the teeth, their shape, their position and the frame of gum and lip around them. Good cosmetic work treats these as connected. Teeth that are crowded will never look right however carefully they are veneered; bonding matched to unwhitened teeth will look wrong once the patient whitens later.
That is why we think in sequence. Position comes first where it needs correcting, colour next, and shape last. It is also why cosmetic dentistry should be restoratively sound: a beautiful result that strains the bite, or removes healthy enamel unnecessarily, is a short-term gain with a long-term cost.
Professional teeth whitening lightens the natural colour of the teeth with dentist-supervised peroxide gel, using an in-chair session, custom take-home trays or both, with systems such as Opalescence, Enlighten and Philips Zoom. It is the least invasive cosmetic treatment and often the first step in any plan.
Composite bonding adds tooth-coloured resin to repair chips, close small gaps, lengthen worn edges and refine shape. It usually needs no drilling and can be adjusted or repaired later. It suits patients with gappy teeth or small chips.
Veneers are thin facings bonded to the front of the teeth, made in composite or porcelain. They change colour and shape more fully than bonding. Porcelain lasts longest and holds its polish, but needs some preparation of the tooth.
Invisalign moves teeth into a better position with clear aligners. Straightening before cosmetic work often means far less tooth needs to be altered, and the result tends to age better.
Where a tooth is heavily filled or cracked, crowns, onlays and inlays restore strength as well as appearance. They sit at the restorative end of cosmetic dentistry.
When several of these are needed together, we plan them as a single smile makeover, sequenced so each step supports the next.
Cosmetic dental treatments suit adults with healthy teeth and gums who are bothered by colour, chips, wear, gaps, crowding or older dental work that no longer matches. They also suit people who want a conservative improvement and value honest advice about what is worth doing.
They are not the right starting point where there is untreated decay or gum disease; we treat those first. Heavy grinding needs to be managed before delicate cosmetic work, or it will wear and chip early. And cosmetic dentistry is not suitable for anyone seeking a look that does not fit their face. We will say so if we think a request would age poorly or cost more tooth than it is worth.
For many patients the answer is a combination. A common, conservative plan is aligners, then whitening, then a small amount of bonding. Our article on composite bonding versus porcelain veneers explores one of the most frequent choices in detail.
The best cosmetic dentistry tends to go unnoticed: people see that you look well rather than that you have had work done. Results vary between people, depending on the starting point and the treatments chosen. Longevity depends on the material, your bite and your habits. Whitening needs top-ups; composite needs occasional polishing and repair; porcelain lasts longest; straightened teeth need retainers.
Cosmetic dental treatments carry risks that are usually avoidable with careful planning: sensitivity after whitening or preparation, chipping or staining of composite, mismatched shades, and over-preparation of healthy teeth. Most long-term regret in cosmetic dentistry comes from doing too much, too quickly.
We reduce these risks by straightening before shaping where appropriate, choosing additive treatments such as bonding where they will do the job, trialling designs in composite before porcelain, whitening before shade-matching, and checking the bite at every stage. We put the risks of each option in your written plan, so you can weigh them properly.
Our cosmetic dentistry prices are published and confirmed in writing before treatment:
A cosmetic consultation is £65. Orthodontic consultations, including Invisalign, are free and include an iTero scan and ClinCheck preview. Gum contouring is from £195, carried out with a surgical technique for accuracy. Combined plans are quoted in writing after assessment. 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, is available.
Dr Vishal Patel qualified from Liverpool (BDS) and holds an MSc in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry from the University of Manchester. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, registered with the GDC (103127), and an Invisalign Diamond II provider, in the top 1% of UK Invisalign providers. Over around 20 years he has treated over 15,000 cases.
His restorative training shapes how we work: cosmetic changes are planned around the bite and long-term tooth health, not only appearance. We also take an anti-ageing view of the smile, considering how tooth length, arch width and lip support change with age; our article on anti-ageing smile protocols explains the thinking. If you are local, our cosmetic dentist in Islington page covers visiting us on Essex Road.
Teeth whitening is the most commonly requested, because it is simple, non-invasive and improves almost every smile with natural, healthy teeth. Composite bonding is a close second for chips, gaps and uneven edges. Both are often combined, with whitening done first so the bonding can be matched to the lighter shade.
It depends on the treatment and how many teeth are involved. At our London clinic, whitening is £450 or £780, composite bonding £175 to £350 per tooth, composite veneers £350 to £500 per tooth and porcelain veneers from £750 per tooth. Combined plans are quoted in writing after assessment, and 0% APR finance is available, subject to status.
Treatment purely to improve appearance, such as whitening, bonding for aesthetics or veneers, is not normally available on the NHS. Dental & Wellness London is a private practice and does not offer NHS treatment. We publish our prices so you can plan, and we always discuss the most conservative option first.
Neither is better in every case. Bonding is more conservative, usually needs no drilling and can be repaired, but stains and wears sooner. Porcelain veneers last longer and resist staining, but require some tooth preparation. For small changes we usually favour bonding; for larger changes in colour or shape, veneers may be more predictable.
It should. A natural result depends on planning tooth proportions around your face, choosing a realistic shade and keeping some of the subtle variation that real teeth have. We use photographs, digital design and, where useful, a trial smile in composite, so you can see and approve the look before anything permanent is done.

A cosmetic dentist improves how teeth and smiles look while keeping them healthy. That includes whitening, composite bonding, veneers, aligner orthodontics, crowns and gum reshaping, often combined in a planned sequence. At Dental & Wellness London, Dr Vishal Patel, who holds an MSc in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry, plans every cosmetic case around your face, bite and long-term tooth health.
At our clinic, whitening is £450 for a single method or £780 combined, composite bonding £175 to £350 per tooth, composite veneers £350 to £500 per tooth, porcelain veneers £750 to £1,500 per tooth and Invisalign from £2,200. Combined plans are quoted in writing after assessment. 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo is available, subject to status.
That depends on whether you want to change colour, shape, position or a combination. Whitening changes colour, bonding and veneers change shape, and aligners change position. We usually recommend the least invasive option that achieves your goal, and explain the alternatives. A consultation with photographs and a scan lets us give you specific, written advice.
Some treatments are reversible and others are not. Whitening fades gradually and needs top-ups. Composite bonding can be adjusted or removed, though it needs maintenance. Porcelain veneers involve preparing the tooth, so they commit you to veneers long term. Straightened teeth stay straight only with retainers. We explain this for each option before you decide.
A cosmetic consultation is £65. It includes an examination of teeth, gums and bite, photographs and a digital scan. Orthodontic consultations, including Invisalign, are free. If you would like to talk things through first, we offer a free 20-minute discovery call by phone.
Often, yes. Moving teeth into a better position first usually means less tooth needs to be altered and the result looks more natural and lasts longer. For mild irregularities, bonding alone may be enough. We show you both routes at consultation, with the timing and cost of each, so you can choose.
