At a Glance
  • Most both-arch cases sit on Invisalign Moderate (£3,400) or Unlimited (£4,500–£4,900)
  • Upper and lower aligners are planned together from one scan and one ClinCheck
  • Bite correction always needs both arches; the exact plan is confirmed after the free consultation

If you are researching full Invisalign cost both arches, the short answer at Dental & Wellness London is that a case treating the upper and lower teeth together usually sits on Invisalign Moderate at £3,400 or Invisalign Unlimited at £4,500–£4,900. Simple both-arch cases occasionally fit Invisalign Express at £2,200. We do not add two single-arch prices together; the case is placed on one plan, and the exact plan is confirmed after your free consultation, iTero scan and ClinCheck preview.

This page explains why most people end up treating both arches, how a dual-arch case is planned, and where different cases fall on our three plans. For the complete price guide, see Invisalign cost UK; for how aligners work, see our main Invisalign page.

What dual-arch Invisalign is, and how it works

Dual-arch, or full, Invisalign means aligners are made for the upper and lower teeth at the same time. Both arches are scanned together and planned together on one ClinCheck, so the movement in each arch is designed around how the teeth will meet at the end. Each pair of aligners is worn for 20 to 22 hours a day and changed on a schedule, moving selected teeth a fraction of a millimetre at a time.

Planning both arches together matters because teeth do not work in isolation. Straightening the upper front teeth changes how they meet the lower teeth, and the reverse. When both arches move to a shared plan, the bite, the smile line and the way the teeth wear over time can all be considered at once.

Full Invisalign cost both arches: where cases sit on our plans

The plan follows the amount and type of movement, not simply the number of arches. A dual arch Invisalign price at our practice therefore falls into one of three places:

  • Invisalign Express, £2,200. Occasionally suitable for both arches where each needs only a small correction, such as slight crowding top and bottom with a good bite.
  • Invisalign Moderate, £3,400. Where many adult dual-arch cases sit: mild to moderate crowding or spacing in both arches, visible front-tooth correction and some bite adjustment.
  • Invisalign Unlimited, £4,500–£4,900. Complex or full-arch cases: real bite correction, multiple rotations, larger crowding, or cases likely to need several refinements. Aligners are provided as the case requires, and the plan includes multi-year aligner cover; full terms and conditions apply. The figure within the range depends on the complexity confirmed by your ClinCheck.

You may see older plan names elsewhere, such as "Lite" or "Comprehensive". We have replaced these with Express, Moderate and Unlimited. Cases once described as Comprehensive usually fall within Unlimited; our page on Invisalign unlimited aligners explains that plan in more detail.

Who treating both arches suits

Most people who come to us for straightening end up treating both arches, for three reasons:

  • The bite is involved. An overbite, underbite, crossbite or open bite is a relationship between the arches, so both need to move. Our article on overbite treatment explains the principles.
  • Both arches are crowded or spaced. Crooked teeth in one arch are often matched by crowding in the other, even if it is less visible.
  • The whole smile is the aim. Many patients want upper and lower teeth to look consistent when they smile and speak, rather than correcting one arch and leaving the other.

Who it does not suit

If your concern is genuinely confined to one arch and the bite is sound, treating both may be more than you need. Our page on single arch Invisalign cost covers those cases. Invisalign of any kind is postponed when gum disease is active or decay needs treating first. Where the cause is largely skeletal, aligners may not be enough; complex skeletal cases are referred to a specialist orthodontist.

Options compared

  • Both arches with Invisalign. Usually Moderate or Unlimited; planned around the bite as well as the appearance.
  • One arch with Invisalign. Usually Express or Moderate; for isolated concerns with a sound bite.
  • Fixed braces or cosmetic fixed braces. Sometimes preferred for particular movements; quoted in writing after assessment. See Invisalign vs braces for the trade-offs.
  • Other aligner systems. Our clear aligners page explains how Invisalign compares with alternatives.

For an overview of every way we straighten teeth, see our teeth straightening hub.

The process, step by step

  1. Free discovery call (optional). A 20-minute phone conversation about what you would like to change.
  2. Free Invisalign consultation. An examination, an assessment of your bite, an iTero scan of both arches, and an honest view of whether aligners suit you.
  3. ClinCheck and written plan. You see the planned movement for both arches together and receive the plan, timeline and fee in writing to take home.
  4. Fit appointment. Attachments are placed on the teeth that need them and your first aligners fitted. Enamel shaping (IPR) is carried out where the plan needs it.
  5. Reviews. Short visits every six to eight weeks to check both arches are tracking. Some bite corrections use small elastics between the arches.
  6. Refinement, if needed. A short additional series of aligners to fine-tune the finish. Our article on Invisalign refinements explains why these are common.
  7. Retainers. Fitted for both arches at the end of active treatment.

Results, longevity and aftercare

Dual-arch cases on Moderate usually take longer than simple one-arch cases, and Unlimited cases can take eighteen months or longer. Results vary with the case and with how consistently the aligners are worn, especially when elastics are part of the plan.

The result lasts as long as retention is maintained. Most patients wear removable retainers on both arches at night long term, and some also have a thin fixed retainer behind the front teeth. Our guide to retainers after Invisalign covers the options. Regular hygiene visits during treatment help keep the gums healthy while aligners are worn most of the day.

Risks, and how we reduce them

  • Teeth not tracking as planned. Reduced by careful case selection, regular reviews and refinements where needed.
  • The bite settling differently from the plan. Reduced by planning both arches around the bite from the start and checking it at each review.
  • Decay and gum inflammation. Reduced by an examination before treatment and good cleaning habits during it.
  • Root shortening or gum recession. Uncommon with light forces; gums are assessed and X-rays taken where indicated.
  • Relapse. Managed with retainers for both arches, worn as instructed.

Cost in Islington and London: comparing quotes

Dual arch Invisalign price quotes in London vary widely, and a low headline figure is only a saving if it covers the same things. Ask whether the consultation and scan are included, how many refinements and reviews are covered, whether IPR is included, and what retainers for both arches cost. At our practice the consultation is free, and your written plan sets out what the fee covers, with retainers quoted alongside it. We offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, on any of the three plans.

Why choose us

Every Invisalign case at our practice is planned and delivered by Dr Vishal Patel: BDS Liverpool, MSc Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry (Manchester), GDC 103127 and AACD member. He is an Invisalign Diamond II provider, in the top 1% of UK Invisalign providers, and has treated over 15,000 cases across around 20 years in dentistry.

Dual-arch planning is where restorative training is most useful. Dr Patel plans the bite, tooth wear and any later cosmetic work alongside the alignment, and prefers to develop the arch rather than extract teeth where the case allows.

Both-arch Invisalign questions

How much is full Invisalign for top and bottom teeth?

At Dental & Wellness London, most cases treating both arches sit on Invisalign Moderate at £3,400 or Unlimited at £4,500–£4,900, and simple ones occasionally on Express at £2,200. The plan depends on how much movement is needed. It is confirmed in writing after your free consultation, iTero scan and ClinCheck preview.

Is treating both arches double the price of one?

No. We do not add two single-arch prices together. A case treating both arches is placed on one plan according to its complexity, because the scan, planning and reviews cover both arches at once. What raises a case from one plan to the next is the amount and type of movement, not the arch count alone.

Do I need both arches treated?

Not always. If the concern is confined to one arch and the bite is sound, one arch may be enough. If the bite needs correcting, or both arches are crowded, treating both is usually the only way to reach a stable finish. We assess both arches at the free consultation and tell you which applies.

How long does dual-arch Invisalign take?

It depends on the case. Moderate dual-arch cases commonly take many months, and Unlimited cases can take eighteen months or longer, particularly where the bite is being corrected. Your ClinCheck shows the planned number of aligners, and the written plan gives an expected timeframe before you commit.

Can I spread the cost of treating both arches?

Yes. We offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, on Express, Moderate and Unlimited. The total and monthly amount are set out in writing with your plan, so you can consider it at home before deciding.

When Dual-Arch Fits
Both jaws, or bite correction
Why Not Double the Price
One plan, not two
Consultation Decides
Not a price preference
Most patients choose dual-arch because their concern — crowding, spacing, a bite issue — involves both jaws, or because they want the whole visible smile moving together rather than fixing one arch and leaving the other unaddressed.
We do not add two single-arch prices together. A both-arch case is placed on one plan — usually Moderate (£3,400) or Unlimited (£4,500–£4,900) — because the scan, planning and reviews cover both arches at once.
Single-arch treatment suits a genuinely isolated concern — for example, mild lower-arch crowding with a well-aligned upper arch — and often sits on a lower plan because only one arch is moving.
It's the only sensible route when bite correction is part of the plan, since the upper and lower arches need to be moved in relation to each other.
What moves a case from Moderate to Unlimited is the amount and type of movement, not the arch count alone.
The exact plan depends on the number of aligners needed, the complexity of movement, and whether bite correction is involved — all confirmed after your iTero 5D scan and ClinCheck preview.

The consultation, not a price preference, decides whether single-arch or dual-arch treatment is right for your case.

Refinement Refinements, where needed, are set out in your written plan; on Unlimited, aligners are provided as the case requires.
Retainers Retainers for both arches are quoted in writing with your treatment plan.

Reviews Short reviews every six to eight weeks to check both arches are tracking.

Questions
people ask

If your question isn't answered here, call reception on 020 8127 4567 or email reception.

What is the dual arch Invisalign price?

At Dental & Wellness London, most cases treating both arches sit on Invisalign Moderate at £3,400 or Unlimited at £4,500–£4,900; simple ones occasionally fit Express at £2,200. The plan depends on how far the teeth need to move and whether the bite is being corrected. It is confirmed in writing after the free consultation.

Why do most people treat both arches?

Because the upper and lower teeth work together. If the bite needs correcting, both arches must move. Crowding in one arch is often matched in the other, and many people want the whole smile to look consistent. Treating both arches together lets us plan the alignment and the bite as one case.

Is dual-arch Invisalign twice the cost of single-arch?

No. We place each case on one of three plans according to its complexity, rather than adding two arch prices together. A simple both-arch case may sit on the same plan as a more involved one-arch case. Your ClinCheck shows the planned movement, and the written plan confirms the fee.

Does treating both arches take longer?

Usually, because more teeth are moving and the bite is often part of the plan. Moderate dual-arch cases commonly take many months, and Unlimited cases can take eighteen months or longer. Wearing aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, and any elastics as instructed, keeps treatment on schedule.

Are retainers included for both arches?

Retainers for both arches are quoted in writing alongside your treatment plan, so the full cost is clear before you start. Most patients wear removable retainers at night long term, and some also have a thin fixed retainer behind the front teeth. We go through the options when you receive your plan.

Is the Invisalign consultation free?

Yes. Orthodontic consultations, including Invisalign, are free. The appointment includes an examination, an iTero scan of both arches and a ClinCheck preview of the planned movement. If aligners are not right for your case, we tell you at that visit, and there is no obligation to proceed.
