Where a one-arch case sits on our three plans, when one arch is genuinely enough, and when the bite means treating both.
Single-arch Invisalign at Dental & Wellness London in Islington treats the upper or lower teeth only, planned by Dr Vishal Patel, an Invisalign Diamond II provider. Most one-arch cases sit on Invisalign Express at £2,200 or Moderate at £3,400, and often finish within months. The consultation, with iTero scan and ClinCheck, is free, and your exact plan is confirmed in writing afterwards.

Every cost is confirmed in writing at consultation before any treatment begins.
The honest answer to a single arch Invisalign cost question is that a one-arch case is not priced as a separate product. At Dental & Wellness London every Invisalign case sits on one of three plans: Invisalign Express £2,200, Invisalign Moderate £3,400 or Invisalign Unlimited £4,500–£4,900. Treating only the top or bottom teeth usually places a case on Express or Moderate, and the exact plan is confirmed after your free consultation, iTero scan and ClinCheck preview.
This page explains when one arch is genuinely enough, when it is not, how a one-arch case moves through treatment, and what you pay. For the full price picture across every plan, see our guide to Invisalign cost UK; for how aligners work in general, see our main Invisalign page.
Single-arch treatment means aligners are made for only one jaw: the upper teeth or the lower teeth. The other arch is left as it is. The aligners themselves are the same as in any Invisalign case. Each set is worn for 20 to 22 hours a day and changed on a schedule, and each one moves selected teeth a fraction of a millimetre towards the position planned on your ClinCheck.
Because only one arch is moving, the plan usually involves fewer aligners and fewer attachments (the small tooth-coloured bumps that help aligners grip). That is the main reason one arch Invisalign often sits on a lower plan. It is not a lighter version of the treatment; it is the same treatment applied to less of the mouth.
We do not publish a separate single-arch price list, and we do not invent one. A case is placed on a plan by how much movement it needs, not by how many arches are involved. In practice, the pattern looks like this:
Your consultation is free and includes an iTero scan and ClinCheck preview. After it, you receive the plan, timeline and fee in writing to take home. Retainers are quoted in writing alongside the treatment plan. If you want to compare a one-arch plan with treating both, our page on full Invisalign cost for both arches explains where those cases fall.
One arch is a sensible plan when the concern is genuinely confined to one jaw and the bite is already sound. Typical examples include:
Single-arch treatment is not the right plan when the problem involves how the teeth meet. An overbite, underbite, crossbite or open bite is a relationship between the two arches, so moving only one arch rarely corrects it and can leave the teeth meeting awkwardly. Our article on overbite treatment explains why bite cases are planned across both arches.
It may also be unsuitable when gum disease is active or decay needs treating first, when crowding is severe enough to need space created in both arches, or when the cause is skeletal. Complex skeletal cases are referred to a specialist orthodontist. If one arch looks fine from the front but the scan shows the bite would be affected, we will say so rather than under-treat a case to reach a lower plan.
For a broader view of all the ways we straighten teeth, see our teeth straightening hub, which also covers clear aligners more generally.
Simple one-arch cases often finish within a few months; cases on Moderate take longer. Our guide to how long Invisalign takes by case gives realistic ranges. Results vary with the case and with how consistently the aligners are worn.
The result lasts as long as retention is maintained. Teeth that have moved, particularly lower front teeth, tend to drift back without a retainer. Most patients wear a removable retainer at night long term, and some have a thin fixed retainer bonded behind the front teeth. Our article on retainers after Invisalign covers the options. Regular hygiene visits during treatment protect the gums while aligners are worn most of the day.
When you compare one arch Invisalign quotes in London, compare what each fee includes as well as the figure. Ask whether the consultation and scan are included, how many reviews and refinements are covered, whether IPR is included where needed, and what retainers cost. At our practice the consultation is free, and your written plan sets out what the fee covers, with retainers quoted alongside it. We offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, on any of the three plans.
Every Invisalign case at our practice is planned and delivered by Dr Vishal Patel: BDS Liverpool, MSc Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry (Manchester), GDC 103127 and AACD member. He is an Invisalign Diamond II provider, in the top 1% of UK Invisalign providers, and has treated over 15,000 cases across around 20 years in dentistry. Deciding whether one arch is enough is a planning judgement, and that judgement is where experience matters most.
Because his training is restorative as well as aesthetic, a one-arch plan is checked against the bite, tooth wear and any future cosmetic work, so that straightening one arch does not create a problem in the other.
Yes, where the concern is confined to one arch and the bite is already sound. Mild lower crowding, a small upper gap or relapse in one arch are common examples. We assess both arches and your bite at the free consultation, because a case that looks like one arch from the front sometimes needs both to finish well.
Often, because fewer aligners are needed, so most one-arch cases sit on Invisalign Express at £2,200 or Moderate at £3,400 rather than Unlimited. It is cheaper because less movement is needed, not because it is a lesser treatment. Your plan and fee are confirmed in writing after the free consultation.
Simple single-arch cases on Express often finish within a few months; cases on Moderate usually take longer. The timeline depends on how far the teeth need to move and how consistently the aligners are worn. Your ClinCheck shows the planned number of aligners, and the written plan gives an expected timeframe.
It can, which is why we check. Moving the teeth in one arch changes how they meet the opposite arch. On a well-chosen case the change is small and planned for. Where the scan suggests the bite would be thrown off, we recommend treating both arches instead.
Yes. The arch that has moved needs retention to stay where it was placed, usually a removable retainer worn at night and sometimes a fixed retainer behind the front teeth. Retainers are quoted in writing with your treatment plan, so the full cost is clear before you start.
Our practice is at 222 Essex Road, Islington, London N1 3AP, two minutes' walk from Essex Road station. Highbury & Islington is one stop away by train, buses 38, 56, 73, 341 and 476 stop on Essex Road, and Angel is a 15–20 minute walk; our patients from Angel page has more. Many patients cycle or use Lime and Forest e-bikes; Dalston is about ten minutes away by bike. Local details are on our Invisalign in Islington page. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm, by appointment.
Single-arch often sits on a lower plan because less movement is genuinely needed — not because it's a lesser treatment.

Yes, if the concern is confined to the lower arch and your bite is sound. Lower front crowding is one of the most common single-arch cases we see. We scan both arches at the free consultation, because moving the lower teeth changes how they meet the upper teeth, and we only recommend one arch when the bite allows it.
We do not price one arch as a separate product. At Dental & Wellness London, most single-arch cases sit on Invisalign Express at £2,200 or Moderate at £3,400, depending on how much movement is needed. The consultation, iTero scan and ClinCheck preview are free, and the plan and fee are confirmed in writing afterwards.
It can be, when the upper teeth are the only concern and the bite is already good. If the lower teeth are also crowded, or the upper teeth would need to move in a way that affects the bite, treating both arches usually gives a more stable and balanced result. We explain which applies after your scan.
Plans follow the amount and type of movement, not the number of arches. A single arch with significant crowding or several rotated teeth can need as many aligners as a simple case treating both arches. That is why some one-arch cases sit on Moderate rather than Express. Your ClinCheck shows exactly what is planned.
Rarely. An overbite is a relationship between the upper and lower teeth, so correcting it usually means moving both arches, sometimes with small elastics. Treating one arch alone can leave the teeth meeting awkwardly. If your scan shows a bite problem, we will recommend a both-arch plan and explain why.
Yes. We offer 0% APR finance over 12 months via Tabeo, subject to status, on Express, Moderate and Unlimited. The total and monthly amount are set out in writing with your treatment plan, so you can take it home and consider it before booking. There is no pressure to decide at the consultation.
